So, I’ve lost 7.5 stone in the past year. I’m stupidly proud of myself and the health and life benefits do outweigh anything... but!

Omg, my hair is massively falling out 😳 like, I think of it continues at this rate.. I’ll have to get a wig or a hat 🎩

My eyesight..! I have always had 2020 but I’m having to squint at train boards, my phone and presentations in meetings! I tried on my mums glasses and they were fab..

But I’m hoping all these things will recitfy ;)

Anyone else? (Please!)

Saggy skin/boobs/tum/thighs/bingo wings?

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 03/11/2018 00:28

No, not so much... I wasn’t worried about it as I figured I’d rather weigh less than look ‘good’.. but I’ve just been to Florida in shorts and strapless tops and I’ve never looked so nice 😂

I want to lose some more, so I don’t doubt I will get some lose skin.. but maybe I’m just quite elastic! I never really got stretch marks when pregnant so maybe that’s a thing?? My stomach is never going to come back.. but I prefer it now to then!

Well done! Fab achievement. But I’d make an apt with an optician and also maybe see your GP about hair loss.

MintedLamb · 03/11/2018 00:33

What are you doing to lose weight? They don't seem like normal side effects to me.

HairyStorm · 03/11/2018 00:37

Same loss and same timescale here. Mainly, it's the too-large skin suit. I'm not overly fond. Though kneading the stomach skin in bed is strangely relaxing.

Unexpected side effect: ran out of trouser storage space. Have nearly a dozen too-large pairs covering three different sizes.

swingofthings · 03/11/2018 07:35

This is amazing and you should be proud but....ex essive weight loss and sight problems are often a result of shock to the system. This happened to me after I had to have 4 anaestetics within a 4 week period. My consultant thence pained the above. The hair went back to normal but the eyesight never did because he said that myopia was always present but the shock to the body activated it.

Have you spoken to your gp about your weight loss?

HairyStorm · 03/11/2018 10:30

Actually, I'll second the query about the GP. I saw mine for something unrelated, she weighed me, she checked my records, she saw the massive rapid loss, she ordered loads of blood tests just in case. Add in your hair loss and it's worth a mention to the GP.

PinkHeart5914 · 03/11/2018 10:35

Well done on the weight loss, it’s a great achievement.

However unless you are basically starving yourself, these side effects do not sound normal at all. I would go and have a chat with the gp to be on the safe side

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 03/11/2018 13:49

I’m not starving myself, I’m eating a low carb, no sugar (mostly) low calorie diet and making myself go to the gym as much as work allows..

Maybe I’ll book an appointment.. It’s getting to the point where I’m terrified to brush my hair Hmm

Have lost 30kg in 12 months & also have hair loss (& a saggy spare skin suit). I suspect it’s normal(ish) as am feeling fine otherwise.

honeysucklejasmine · 03/11/2018 14:24

My hair is thinning but no change with my eyesight. I'm 1 year post partum though so expect hair loss is from that.

I'd see your GP if I were you.

MiniMum97 · 03/11/2018 15:43

Could also be low iron. Go to GP.

BruceAndNosh · 03/11/2018 15:47

2 of my family suffered thinning hair while following very low calorie diets

Redskyandrainbows67 · 03/11/2018 17:13

These are not side effects from losing weight. Def see a gp.

Redskyandrainbows67 · 03/11/2018 17:16

I’d ask for diabetes to be ruled out

BentNeckLady · 03/11/2018 17:20

Low carb diets aren’t supposed to be low calorie are they? Are you eating any fat? Some fat is actually good for you.

MagicKeysToAsda · 03/11/2018 17:20

I'm 5 stone down (over a long period of time) and have noticed my hair is a bit thinner, but to be honest it may well be the start of perimenopause. It seems to have settled down lately. So, hard to determine the precise cause, but I would be surprised if it was connected to food intake as I have not been starving myself by any stretch of the imagination, and I have not been low-carbing.

Fingers crossed I have avoided much saggy skin but I think that's pure luck would love to believe it's due to regular running

rslsys · 03/11/2018 17:24

Eyesight might be blood pressure.
I had tremendous eyesight until Dr sorted out my BP, needed glasses ever since. Get checked!

bubbles108 · 03/11/2018 17:29

Get your thyroid checked

FishesThatFly · 03/11/2018 17:31

OP are you doing a ketosis diet as hairloss is a known side effect.

FishesThatFly · 03/11/2018 17:32

Here you go

MaMisled · 03/11/2018 17:36

Well done op!

Triangular bits of flesh for boobs.
Saggy knees and bum cheeks.
Boney shins.
Collar bones that collect sand on holiday.
Under eye bags.
Loose teeth.
Horribly dangly labia.
A rectal prolapse.
Loose bowels.
Chronic trapped wind.

But somehow all worth it to be a size 8.

Madness.

Aquamarine1029 · 04/11/2018 03:42

I think your hair loss is due to hormone imbalance that needs to correct itself. Obesity causes your hormones to go completely out of whack, and the massive loss will do the same. Given how much weight you have lost in just a year, I think your hormone levels need time to catch up and level off.

Stressedoverkids · 04/11/2018 03:59

Wow well done. That's a fabulous weight loss.

It sounds like you have lost a lot of your bodies fat soluble Vitamin store.

The Fat soluble vitamins are A, D, E and K. Have a look at safe upper limits of vitamins and then start a multivitamin plus a hair, skin and nails with an additional vitamin D but make sure you are still within the safe upper limits.

Still see the GP too.
