Dry flaky scalp

Hi,
I've had dry flaky scalp (along with dry hair) for years now and I can't seem to get rid of it. I've tried everything from Head & shoulders anti-dandruff shampoo, to E45 dry scalp shampoo to ginger anti dandruff shampoo, and even applying hair oils (e.g. coconut oil) but nothing helps.

I've also had all my vitamin levels checked and it's not itchy so might possibly not be dandruff (just dry scalp) but the white flakes are very visible in the hair, especially at partings :(.

Should I be eating less sugar? Any success stories of anything that's worked?

Have you tried moogoo?

I have dry flaky scalp, tried everything you listed (and then some!) and nothing worked - some made it a bit better but nothing actually stopped it. There was a similar thread on MN a couple of months ago which inspired me to switch things around and try again.

I'm currently using body shop ginger antidandruff shampoo AND Yes to Carrots scalp relief conditioner... and I don't have flakes! This is literally the first time in years I've been able to wear a dark top. I've tried the Bodyshop ginger shampoo before, and it didn't work. I've no idea if it's the Yes to Carrots that's working, or the combination of the two, but I'm sticking to it Grin

Another one who swears by the Body Shop ginger anti dandruff shampoo. My DD no longer has a dry scalp.

The L’Oreal for men shampoo in the black and orange bottle was also good but they stopped making it.

Is it psoriasis? If so you could try a steroid lotion you need to get a prescription from your GP. Also use a sulphate free shampoo, lots around, Happy Naturals is one available from Sainsbury's.
