My posture is appalling

I'm 30 but hunch my shoulders constantly making me appear a lot lot older. When sat down I sort of slump into my rib cage and when driving I lean forward. My shoulders are always rolled forward.

I've seen a physio and tried the "imagine someone's pulling you by a single hair on your head" but it feels so unnatural and I last seconds.

Anyone else got any tips?

Tighten your stomach, deep breath, shoulders back, chin up, bum in... repeat every time you think of it. Long term, work on strengthening your core. Also may be worth watching others and realising you don't look unnatural standing straight even if it feels it for a while.

Pilates class would really help.

Google The Alexander Technique.

It makes much more sense to imagine that you are pushing something up with the top of your head.
Chin tuck not up. When you are driving the back of your head should be touching the head rest (for safety reasons as well as posture)
Open your shoulders rather than pushing them back.

My posture is appalling

I like exercise for helping the strengthen shoulders Wink

I'm the same and I'm convinced it's the root of my various back and hip pains
I've downloaded apps, YouTube videos
But it's just such an effort for me
Takes all my strength to not hunch even for a minute
I have to do something tho as
I look like a hunch back

I've just started pilates so hopefully that will help! Good luck

I'm terrible, but improving after a year of Pilates. That diagram posted earlier of the chin being pushed back and advice to put the back of your head into the car headrest is exactly what the physio told me to do when I went to her with shocking neck ache. She told me that I carry my head too far forward and that is a huge weight hanging on my tendons. Now I always try to remember to push my head back when driving.

Try one of the posture correctors you can get off Amazon. I was skeptical but after a few days I found myself self correcting when I wasn't wearing it. It's meant to retrain your muscles.

I've been wearing it for 20 min to an hour a day while puttering around the house.

Pilates is amazing for this kind of thing. I also have terrible posture so empathise.
