DS bumped his head twice seems fine but should I take him to GP?

I was at a busy mother and baby group yesterday and ds (22 mo) fell and hit his head twice . Generally he just plays with cars and doesnt get into mischief and as there were a few of my friends there I got absorbed in conversation a couple of times - feel awful btw. The first time I saw him on the floor by the steps of a small wooden slide crying. I didnt see what had happened, I think one of the other children knocked him off the first step onto the hard floor. He was easily comforted and then wanted to stay and wriggled out of my arms to play. I shouldnt have let him out of my sight again but while I was sitting down he clambered onto the mini trampoline and fell straight off. I wasnt close enough to see how hard he fell it didnt seem like a bad fall but he was very very upset and quite pale after a while from shock I think. I took him home and he fell asleep on the way, I woke him up because i was worried and he seemed ok. He later had a normal length nap and was tricky to get to sleep in the evening which actually seemed like a good sign. He slept ok and I heard him stirring a few times in the night and went into check on him once because I was worried about concusion. He has been fine today, there are no bumps but it is tricky to know for sure because of his hair. Should I just continue observing him for the next week or should I really get an app with GP so the incidents are recorded? Thanks for reading this.

I don't think you need to worry. My two DS's are always banging their heads (or banging each others). Recently my youngest (16 months) who has just started walking, fell over and had the most enormous blue bump. We took him to A&E but they were unfazed. Doctors told me they only really worry if child is obviously concussed (and then it's just an observation thing over 24/36 hours) or far more seriously if they have fluid coming from ears or nose (skull fracture). It sounds like your DS is not showing any symptoms so put it down to experience - there will be plenty more.

Hi Pookey - they all do this - don't fret. He'll be fine. Perhaps make him a bubble wrap helmet for next week though

Thanks both for the reassurance it is what I was hoping to hear because it is it is very hard to get a GP appointment and its either emergency app same morning or wait for ten days. I dont want to use an emergency app that somebody might really need.

This was a good wake up call for me that ds may be sensible but I still need to be careful even in apparently safe situations. I would so love a bubble wrap helmet for him, if only I could wrap him up in cotton wool while he was little but he would still grow up to be brave and independent lol.
