Flu Nasal Spray - High Temp

Just wondering if anyone had any experience of this in toddlers?

Two year old had flu vaccination yesterday morning, hardly ate a thing yesterday, or today, only had to change his nappy once all day and tonight he's woken with a 39.9 temp.

I've read some of the side effects, but the worrier in me, is wondering how I can be sure it's that and not something else that I'm potentially ignoring because I'm assuming it's just side effects.

Also, if anyone's toddler has had similar side effects before, how long did they last please?

I would be phoning someone I think. My dc has had it and never had any side effects. I would be worried about the nappy situation. A call to NHS 24 won't do any harm.

@easternedge thanks for replying. I've given some Calpol, and it's come down to 38 already, and his nappy was also wet. He's gone back to sleep, so I've set my alarm for 11.30 in case I fall asleep, and will check his temp again and give ibuprofen. If temp still high, I'll call 111 for some advice

Hi, i know it's been a while now but how is your toddler now? Has his fever and down or did you look medical help? Was the fever confirmed to be side effects of flumist?

SPR1107 · 14/11/2018 20:29

Hi @Mumchatting.

I set my alarm for every two hours that night, checked his temperature and his nappy, (would've slept on his floor but pregnant), and he kept a normal temperature all night and nappy was wet.

He woke up absolutely fine, and all symptoms disappeared. So I think it might have been side effects but they were very short lived

That's good it was just one night high fever and he was well the next day. Smile
