Wrong prescription item dispensed

My DH is asthmatic and has just noticed that one of his inhalers has 200 mcg strength on the pharmacy label but the box is for a 100 mcg. We've just checked his previous one which was 200 mcg so it would seem he has been given one of half the strength (it's on repeat prescription so not change of strength as far as we are aware)
He's only just noticed so has been using it a couple of weeks. Is it worth going back to the pharmacy and see if they will swap it or will he likely need a new prescription? It would be a bit annoying to have to pay another £8 odd for a new inhaler, but what is best to do in this circumstance? If he needs the higher strength one we would rather he had it, or could he take more puffs to make up for it? Does anyone have any advice?

Take it back to the pharmacy - I'm fairly sure they need to report and investigate incidents like this. Giving the wrong dose of a medicine could kill someone.

Yes absolutely take it back. I’ve had a similar situation and the dispenser was disciplined. It’s potentially lethal.

Can you check your prescription online to see if the dose has been reduced?

If they have dispensed the wrong one they should replace it without additional cost.

Thanks for the replies. He took it back to the chemist and they dispensed a new one free of charge and said they would look into what happened.
