Hip replacements early 40s

I am 41and waiting to have my second hip replacement. I had the other hip done last year. I have hip dysplasia and really waited as long as I possibly could to have these replacements. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience of hip replacements done at a young age, how long did they last? TIA

I had mine done at 36....I'm now 43 and I've had no issues so far. I was told to expect 10-15 years but my consultant wasn't sure as no one has yet had a composite one replaced that he has done.

My husband had his hip replaced age 34. He was told it would last 15-20 years. He has now had it 21 years and no problems so far. It is a hydroxyapatite ceramichip, called a Furlong HAC which has a coating to encourage bone growth and was put in uncemented so the bone would grow. This he was told was because it would be better for replacing it eventually than using the cemented type. But so far he has had absolutely no issues with it all and we are hoping it keeps going for as long as possible! Hope that helps
