Fainted/Seizure?

I collapsed yesterday when out walking, luckily someone saw me and called an ambulance and I ended up in A&E for a few hours. I was a bit confused afterwards and was told by the doctor I saw I am not allowed to drive until attended a fit clinic plus had to tell DVLA even though it's likely it was caused by low blood sugar as I had a massive sporting event on at the weekend.

Anyone attended a fit clinic? Or guess how long it'll be till I can get my licence back? Thanks.

That seems a bit harsh if there's no evidence that it was a seizure. How quickly will you be able to get a clinic appointment?

Thanks for replying.

I was trying to find out yesterday but even though it's on the internet I couldn't find the right department to speak to. Someone thought the clinics may only run once a month.

DH is trying to reassure me that we'll manage even though it seems a bit overwhelming at the moment.

Just updating as seen GP today who doesnt agree with A&E that it sounds like epilepsy but still wants me referred to Cardio to check out my heart.

Unfortunately, she also thinks i will automatically lose my licence for 6 months depressing as that is, even though i've only had 1 episode.

Btw, I don't know if this is any help, but being a bit confused afterwards would imply that it is blood-sugar related. After heart-related fainting episodes you tend to recover more quickly and not have any confusion. etc. Hope you get it sorted out!

I fainted and had a seizure and couldn't drive until I had seen a neurologist. This took a few months. Once they said there was nothing else going on I had just fainted I could drive again. It was a pain. How are you feeling now?

Being investigated at the moment for a faint. I had a similar one two years ago so I thought this time I'd better see the GP even if I hate fussing. To my surprise I was referred to Cardiology and Neurology, I didn't think I would have been as to me it was just a faint, I recovered quickly, had no confusion etc perhaps after a certain age they are more careful. Luckily I don't drive so no big impact on my day to day life. Flowers

Many thanks for replies.

I feel fine now (wanting to do another half marathon as i did far better in the last one than i was expecting to do!).

From googling i've realised i'd be better off surrendering my driving licence rather than have it taken away. It's depressing as i live rurally and have a primary aged child to get to school but will have to try and find a way round it.

I really think i didn't eat/drink enough after the half marathon but doctors have to cover themselves i suppose after an issue like this.
