Before we had ds, I did worry about whether we should risk inflicting dh's asthma and eczema/my health condition on another generation (mine isn't hereditary though but it is in some people so you always worry... and dh is the only atopic person in his whole family, how unlucky is that?). In the end, decided that if reproduction was restricted to people in 100 per cent good health a. there would be a shrinking gene pool (and who knows, some of these mutations may be beneficial to the species in some bizarre way) and b. we might get lucky and have children who are fine and c. even those people who are OK now might go on to develop health problems that they would have unwittingly passed to their children. And d. the world would be a pretty boring place if all the talented, creative, entertaining people who just happen to have diabetes, or epilepsy, or asthma didn't exist.
Probably not much help at the moment, but please keep telling yourself you shouldn't feel guilty. There's a 95 per cent chance he's fine, just hold onto that.

I have psoriasis, though not bad at the moment.
I agree GPs are useless, the last one I saw in regards to an outbreak of Gutate psoriasis, told me to moisturise and offered no other advice or assistance.
I managed to get rid of it by using Aloe Vera cream, and two acupuncture treatments. I think Aloe Vera can really work wonders. I also think I have psoriatic arthritis but GPs don?t believe me. I am sure my mother had the same. Good luck Twiglett, I hope it is not what you think, I sympathise immensely

Would it be worth getting an opinion from a dr and then seeing a homeopath? It can take a while for treatments to work but it would be done naturally.

spots · 26/08/2004 22:35

Sure you will keep us posted but will be thinking about you. Sorry to catch this late. xxx

Another vote re homeopaths. Ours has helped us all for numerous things. My cousin's DD had bad eczema that her homeopath helped rid.

Oh god, twiglett how awful of him. I hope you have someone in RL to talk to. Will keep thinking of you guys.

libb · 28/08/2004 16:36

Twiglett, I really wish I could offer some kind of practical advice (as you have always done for me and others here).

I hope your DH come round - in my experience men are hopeless with illnesses etc. but I am sure he will see how important it is for you to talk it through. I also find blocking all the exits helps a lot

I'm thinking of you xxxx

Lisa78 · 28/08/2004 16:42

its a man thing twiglett - they bottle it up inside, try to pretend it isn't there, mine can be just the same; he seems to think if we don't mention something, its not happening.
Give him a bit of time to come around

libb · 28/08/2004 16:49

Not completely changing the subject but are the adverts at the top sensitive to words or something?

Two words - ALOE VERA!!!! Worked wonders for
dh's father who has been in and out of hospital over the years and had his system bombarded with all sorts of aggressive stuff.

Momp · 28/08/2004 20:03

Twiglett - although you feel your GP is pants, do take DS to see them. If you're not happy with GP's comments then be referred.

It could be something or nothing, but find out before you start worrying yourself silly.

Hope all is ok x

cori · 28/08/2004 21:12

I did eventually get them give me an X ray on hands and feet. The results were clear except for signs of a 'little wear and tear' on joints on little finger.
I still think i may have it though. Fingers get quite stiff at times, and problems with toes which I find hard to describe.( feel like they cant support me sometimes, weird) I also have pitting of the finger nails , which has never gone away. If it becomes a problem again I will just have to go back to GP.
Is it true that sometimes it can just go away and never come back.?
How is your son today Twiglett.?

prufrock · 29/08/2004 21:14

Twiglett darling you are not alone - you have us to listen to rants, offer sympathy and possible solutions.
Could a homeopath help - just beacuse they can't help your dh doesn't mean thye can't help ds - mine used to say that it took 1 month of homeopathy to sort out every year you have suffered with a problem, so if you start ds now you could have a solution quite soon. I know a wonderful woman who works in canary Wharf and the city of you would like her details - she sorted dd's ezcema out really quickly.

Blu · 31/08/2004 10:59

Twiglett, I'm so sorryy. I understand why you are so discouraged and frightened because we have this in our family, too - my Mum.

I know under pressure, the last thing that helps is a barrage of helpful advice that turns out to be anything but...but my Mum's psoriasis cleared up almost miraculously when she drank the 100% oure Aloe Vera juice from Forever Living, and used the gel. When you are over the shock and confusion, if the probelm does develop further, there may be just the right alleviation once you have had time to take a deep breath and experiment.

But so sorry - it really is somehting to worry and get upset about.

Blu · 31/08/2004 10:59

Twig - My Mum gets the whole package, not just the psoriasis. But not, i think, as severely as your DH.

Aaargh, Twiglett, how blody frustrating.

But don't worry - that's what cafes are for. Hope you had a nice cup of something hot and frothy, and a huge slice of cake.
