Visited GP- 19 And Worried About Breast. 3 Month Wait For B.Clinic?

Hi Mumsnetters, I have noticed a sudden retracted nipple and difference in size, as well as a sore neck over the past two weeks or slightly longerand finally got to my GP this morning. I have a feeling something iswrong (hopefully not Cancer however one of my aunts sadly passed away in her 30s after almost a decade of having Cancer so my fear is heightened by that). The GP did check my breasts and agreed there is something odd buthas told meI likelywon't get an appointment at the Breast Clinic for 3 months+. Really not much reassurance at all- you can't tell if there's anything Cancerous or dangerous until the scan! I'm really consideringgetting a second opinion but I think my age has to do with me not getting an appointment until the New Year. Do you have any advice? Still worried! Hopefully everything is fine and not serious- but I've got no peace of mind about it all

The criteria for a two week referral, ie to rule out cancer are very clear. All GPs should know them. So either your GP is fully reassured that you don't meet the criteria and therefore your chance of beat cancer are almost nil, which would be great news, or he is incompetent. You could Google you ccg area and see if you can find the two week breat criteria. You could also phone your ccg and ask.

thank you Swingofthings, I thought they were! I was talking to the nurse in a local B.Cancer bus who has told me I should get a second opinion. Praying to God the chances are almost nil, i'm sure they are- i'd just like the peace of mind- Google never helps with these things! I've never been with this GP before and trust they know what they're doing but would like the peace of mind in case something is wrong. I've found the criteria online. Thank you for your help. I think your mind just runs wild with these things. x
