Solve my big toe mystery

3 weeks ago, I slipped on some water and, in trying to stop myself from falling, the big toe of my other foot ended up somehow bent under it. It was effectively stubbed. It bruised a bit, but not enough to win me any sympathy. It hurt to walk/wear shoes for a week and then I just forgot about it pretty much. Last week, I compounded the matter by dropping an upright heavy tube from a large goalpost on the nailbed of the same toe from a height of about 2ft.

Since the initial injury, my toe has not been able to bend at the first joint. My brain tells it to bend but it doesn't do anything. On two occasions where it has been bent by force, the pain has been unreal and lasted a few hours.

I try not to bother the medical profession for me as my two boys receive more than our fair share of the NHS's time. Does this big toe need an x-ray or might it still just get better on its own?

You may have fractured it, I once fractured my inner elbow and chopped my outer elbow (at the same time) assumed it was a sprain because I still could move it...I didn't realise there was a fracture and chip until it was x-rayed ..get it x-rayed, you don't want any issues with your toes to arise, after all you need your feet to be able to.walk

Fracrured or dislocated. Take it to the doctors stat! You are being unreasonably shy of using our wonderful NHS.

Definitely don't leave it to heal up on its own, it may set in a position that causes you pain for the rest of your life and would be easily avoidable!
