DH Symptons

I'm very worried about my husband's symptoms and was wondering if anyone had anything similar or recognised what this may be as I feel going back and forth to the doctors and there's been no diagnosis

40 years old, fit and healthy
Diagnosed with Osophigitis and Hiatis Hernja about a year ago, had the odd flare up if he ate something bad but generally coping with it well
Over the last month he's had the following symptoms:
Severe night sweats
Doubled over stomach pain (gets worse after eating)
Lower back pain
Pale poo
Weight loss
Dark urine
Extreme fatigue
No fever

He finally got somewhere with the doctors and they did a blood test on Monday and called him back in this morning. All the doctor said was that his bloods were all over the place (CRP was 130?) and he needs to have an endoscopy, god knows when that will be though!

Any advice would be much appreciated. Have a young baby and am beyond worried about him
Sad

Just realised I spelt Symptoms wrong, whoops!

Can you afford a private consultation?? If you pay for a colonoscopy and need treatment you’ll be back in the nhs system further up the queue with any medication he needs. Find out how long he’ll have to wait for the colonoscopy and work from there.

companylovesmisery · 10/10/2018 11:16

Sorry, endoscopy

eclipseofthefart · 10/10/2018 11:23

Annoyingly we've always paid for private health, but as we've never used it and I'm on maternity leave at the moment, we cancelled it earlier this year, typical!!
He had an endoscopy last year when they found his hernia and he had to wait 3 months for that so
I will actually look into the cost of having a private one done, thanks for suggesting it x

I just looked online and the average cost is £1,400! That's not an option for us sadly.

Liver/gall bladder, something like that. Pale poo and dark urine are the clues.

See if you can get a cancellation.

companylovesmisery · 10/10/2018 14:16

Gosh,,that’s pricey.

Yes, try to get on a waiting list for a cancellation.

Paleshelter · 10/10/2018 17:13

To be honest sounds like he should be admitted to hospital. He would hopefully get investigated quicker. Is he jaundiced- yellowing of skin, whites of eyes etc?

Paleshelter · 10/10/2018 17:16

PS a normal CRP should be less than 1. There are different reasons for a raised CRP, like infection, having a wound, inflammatory response etc.

pullingmyhairout2 · 10/10/2018 17:17

My dad has been having regular endoscopys the waiting time hasn't been too bad. Also if they think it may be urgent they will fit him in.

Mooey89 · 10/10/2018 17:19

It sounds like the symptoms I had when my gallbladder was flaring up - the pale poo is a sign that it’s quite a bad flair up.
I would have a low threshold for A&E if the pain is severe tbh -

I left my gallbladder symptoms until they were terrible, gO was reluctant to refer me to hospital, my mum took me to the hospital when my poo went grey and I’d started to look yellow - stone had passed to bile duct and I was jaundiced, my gallbladder ended up necrotic and long story short I ended up with sepsis in intensive care.
I’m not saying it to scare you, but I always tell people not to waste time with GP for stuff like this, A&E were shocked I hadn’t come soonerz

eclipseofthefart · 10/10/2018 18:24

Mooey89
That sounds awful, glad you are okay now
Gallstones is a really good shout though, he's got all the symptoms. Would that show up in an endoscopy?

We went to A&E on Saturday at the pain was so bad, but once they'd ruled out a heart problem (as the pain was high up in his stomach so they thought it was a heart attack for some reason when it definitely wasn't), they pretty much told him there was nothing they could do and to go to the GP

Hopefully we'll hear back soon. Horrible having to wait when he's in so much pain

Sounds like when I had gallstones. Worse than giving birth naturally which I've done twice. He would need an ultrasound of his gallbladder

Paleshelter · 10/10/2018 18:34

How could the A and E staff say there was nothing they could do-it-yourself they could have admitted him and given him strong pain killers!!! If you are concerned I would go back to A and E and don't be robbed off. The night sweats alone are a worry.

Moony sorry to hear that. There is a lot of highlighting just now about the dangers of sepsis.

Paleshelter · 10/10/2018 18:35

Don't know where the do it yourself came from!!

eclipseofthefart · 10/10/2018 20:20

I just spoke to DH about the possibility of it being his gallbladder and he is convinced the pain is in his left side not his right side.
Has anyone with gallstones had pain on that side too?

OP posts:
Myshinynewname · 10/10/2018 20:25

If the pain is on the left it could be pancreatic rather than from the gall bladder.

Mooey89 · 10/10/2018 20:31

No gallbladder is upper right.
Appendix?

HoleyCoMoley · 10/10/2018 20:31

I think he needs to.seek.medical.advice. Did he tell them he had.pale poo and dark urine or were they just concentrating on his heart. The pain can radiate but biliary pain can be terrible. He doesn't want to get an infection. I would call 111 for advice or go to hospital.

donnalouise1977 · 10/10/2018 20:33

I had central pain at first right in my stomach and it felt like my heart. I learnt to make myself sick which relieved the symptoms. Pain was triggered by eating fatty foods.

He could try writing a food diary to see if it linked to any types of food

HoleyCoMoley · 10/10/2018 20:34

The appendix is at.the.bottom right side of your body.

eclipseofthefart · 10/10/2018 21:26

That's really useful, thanks for the advice.
I want him to go to a&e now but he is refusing as he's already been once and is too tired. I have persuaded him to go tomorrow morning if he's still in the same amount of pain.

OP posts:
amymel2016 · 10/10/2018 21:35

Sorry to echo what everyone else has said but sounds very similar to my gallstones. I thought I was having a heart attack, the pain was around my bra strap, is that similar for him? The dark urine and pale stools are also key signs. I hope he gets better soon OP xx

eclipseofthefart · 11/10/2018 08:40

Sat in A&E now. The nurse instantly said Pancreatis when he talked through his symptoms. Anyone know anything about that?

OP posts:
HoleyCoMoley · 11/10/2018 09:20

Thank goodness be can get it sorted out, hope he feels better soon.Flowers wait till the doctor decides what is wrong.
