Breast lumps in 13 months old.

At the weekend we noticed that DD had a small, pea-sized, lump behind each nipple. By this morning, the one behind her right nipple had really enlarged and is about the size of a walnut. We visibly noticed it this morning, it's grown so much.

I took her to see the HV today and mentioned it. HV assures me that it's really common and that unless she is displaying other symptoms or it doesn't go in a few weeks, that there's nothing to worry about and it's probably a cyst. The sensible part of me accepts this, but I need some MN reassurance that:

a) It is common, and
b) Someone else's baby has had this and it's disapearred in a few days.

TIA

Hi there,

My daughter is 10wks and had those lumps. HV said it was hormonal and not to worry unless they became red, angry, sore or weeping.

I realise it might be different for your 13month DD. But thought adding my experience would keep it bumped

Thanks AngeG.

Congratualtions of the birth of your DD

My daughter too had one of these behind one of her nipples. Took her to the HV who referred me to the hospital, scared the life at of me, but as soon as we seen the consultant he said they were common, not to worry unless it looked sore, weeped or any other changes. Spotted it when she was about 16 months, she is now 3 and its totally gone.

Thank you Jenkel. I'll just keep an eye on her and see how she is. Unfortunately, the smaller lump is now increasing in size too, so I think we may be taking a trip to the doctor

Just want to add that I don't think is anything malignant (in both senses of the word) but am concerned that she may be in discomfort if they increase in size much more.
