I had a c section 10 weeks ago. I had a water infection 3 weeks ago now. Given a 7 day course of antibiotics. Doctor said i would feel better by day 2. I didn't start feeling better until day 6. Went back to the doctors on Thursday as had another uti. Given 3 day course of antibiotics. Went to walk in centre as still didn't feel better told they would send a urine sample to the lab. I've now, since yesterday started with lower back pain on the left hand side. No temprature or anything but I'm starting to worry its my kidneys? The doctor at the walk in centre was adament i didn't need anymore antibiotics ans just told me to wait till tuesday. If i got a call from my gp they'd found something in my sample. If i didn't theres nothing wrong. So why this pain? Anyone had this?

I’ve not had a c section but I remember feeling like this for a couple of months after abdomen surgery. Things just didn’t feel right. I had antibiotics but they didn’t really work. In the end I just started drinking lots of water and pure concentrated cranberry juice which seemed to knock it all in the head. You’ve had major surgery, things are bound to feel a bit off for a while.

Also lower back pain will be because your stomach muscles are weak so you are overcompensating with your lower back. I had this too and needed a course of physio.

@ohluckyme its very low back pain. I suppose you could say it is on my back where my c section scar is at the front. Not constant but there now and again and seems to be getting worse. I don't think my uti went away fully last time and thats why it came back. So I'm wondering if it hasn't gone away this time either?

Obviously you need advice from your doctor but it does sound like you could do with some physio on your back. I can’t recommend diluted pure cranberry juice enough for water infections - biona do a great one x

Yes i will be going back if i don't get results back tomorrow. Well either way.

You can get adhesions after major pelvic surgery. After my last section I had them terribly. Had to have surgery. Not trying to scare you but it was actually a friend who "diagnosed" this, not a doctor, which is the reason I'm telling you. My gp was clueless. Google pelvic adhesions.

It could very well be a lingering uti, just have these in your radar for if it doesn't pass going down the line.

God knows what my surgeon did but she made a right mess of me. I knew this wasn't right quickly.

SamanthaH92 · 01/10/2018 22:27

@fieryginger oh now i am worried. My surgeon was a trainee....without my consent! I didn't relise she was until i heard the other (head) surgeon telling her not to cut there or her finger and to hurry up. I was in theatre a VERY long time. The surgeon left her to finish up once baby was born.

Pain is now in both sides, it was only on the right side before so will be booking a gp appointment tomorrow. I'm unsure if kidney pain is constant or if it comes in waves now and again. Its not happening all the time but when it comes its there for few hours.

So sorry, didn't mean to worry you, it's just that I was left in limbo, thought I was going bonkers.

If antibiotics clears it up, it won't be adhesions. Everybody gets adhesions after surgery, it's rare to have them flare up to my extent and cause constant pain.

Let us know how you get on. I'm keen to hear this gets sorted out for you, op. 💐

Tinypause · 04/10/2018 02:58

Adhesions are caused by the presence of scar tissue which can form after surgery...it is not something a surgeon can prevent so please don't worry about it being a trainee doc.
