Insomnia.... help!

Hi, for the last few weeks I have been suffering with insomnia. I'm not sure why this has started. I do struggle with anxiety but that has been the norm for me for a long time and I've never suffered from insomnia before. I'm so tired during the day but at night I just CANNOT sleep 😩.... has anyone got any tips/tricks to help you get to sleep? I've seen my GP but she was a bit dismissive and not very helpful.

My best method is to recite things to myself - plots of films, scenes from books - to stop my mind going round and round with things that bother me. I tend to run with my insomnia at weekends (hence being up now!) in the knowledge I don't have to get up particularly early, and to build up more sleep credit for the week.

Sympathies. I've struggled too. Have you had blood tests recently? I'm slightly anaemic so finding iron tablets helping, and having supper before bed (keep waking up hungry at 2am). Also, have downloaded a hypno app thing on my phone. I plug my headphones in and listen and it really helps to get me off...just wish I could stay asleep!

Good luck.

@BretonStripe I've not had blood tests recently, I'll go back to the doctors and request some if this carries on! I've downloaded a meditation app with relaxing music but it hasn't helped so far unfortunately 😣

@ScreamingValenta I haven't tried the reciting things method! I will give that a try!
