Acid indigestion? Heart burn? Not really sure!

For the last 10 days or so I have had almost constant acid indigestion, worse after I’ve eaten but a constant feeling of something being in the bottom of my throat. I have been chewing Rennies but not sure what else to do as have never experienced this before. Up until now I have just had the normal occasional indigestion after a large meal.

If relevant, I am a relatively fit and healthy 31yo, eating a balanced, non-fatty diet. I had my gallbladder removed 10 years ago.

Would appreciate any advice - it’s driving me mad!

Maybe try a ranitidine tablet

lackingimagination · 28/09/2018 18:21

Not heard of that, will have a look, thanks

You can buy it off the shelf in supermarkets. I buy unbranded but think one brand is Zantac

Try Boots own brand of gaviscon stuff, it's really good. The feeling of something in your throat sounds like it might be acid reflux. Have you changed anything in your diet or eating late, or stressed?

I wondered about gaviscon having seen a million adverts for it. I’ve just googled acid reflux and that does sound right. Such an odd feeling.

Funnily enough I have been really stressed and have had other bodily reactions to it like eczema, hair loss and migraines so maybe this is another one to add to the list!

Off to boots this morning then... Smile

I can't drink gaviscon as its too gloopy

Nacreous · 29/09/2018 09:02

Gaviscon (or generic equivalents) is kinda grimly gloopy but it’s highly effective. I usually go for ranitidine or omeprazole with a top up of gaviscon if required if it’s a long term issue. If it’s a random blip then just gaviscon.

(I have many and varied stomach problems that change over time.)

Sounds like acid reflux
