Eczema (help please)

I've always had eczema - it's always been triggered by either dairy, wool or severe stress.

It flared up a couple of months ago and has only been getting worse - I haven't wore wool, ate dairy of been overly stressed.

The only thing that's changed is my birth control - I changed to the mini pill.

Could this potentially be a trigger for eczema to flare up??? Desperate to find an answer now as it is started to hurt when I walkSad

Hi Op,
So sorry to hear about the flare up. Sounds like there could be a link to the hormones. I'd get back to the GP and see if it's a side effect.

I just wanted to say that I've had some horrible flare ups in the past and I started using sulphur soap (Dead Sea brand) and Tea Tree, Neem and Manuka cream (got it on Amazon) which amazingly knocked it on the head.
After years of all sorts of emollients, betnovate etc etc I couldn't believe it worked.
I also got a massive tub of epsom salts, added a few scoopfuls to a bath and soaked for 30 mins.
I don't usually recommend stuff but I know how desperate eczema can be.
I can't wear wool either, just getting it near my face sets it all of!
Maybe give the soap a try, it's really gentle so doesn't sting when it gets in the open sores like some things can.
Good luck! Smile

I remember the list of triggers written down both arms as a child. I agree with the ThreeWheeler.

I would add that E45 bath oil has really helped in the past. I suppose otherwise it is steroid creams which I am sure you are familiar with. Fucibet is the only thing that works for me, even when it comes to open wounds. I sometimes mix it with diprobase to take the oomph out of the steroids which i gather are completely altruistic. I do hope you get some relief soon.

One of my young DS had severe eczema. I found the Child's Farm Lotion to be amazing. You can get it in Boots for around £5.

I developed more triggers in my 40s and an allergy to sulpha drugs. I didnt think you could develop more allergies as you ages, but apparently you can and is quite common. Can you go for a new set of allergy tests and see if anything crops up?
