Vaginal Tears

Okay so about 300 years ago I posted this thread.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_health/2267339-Sorry-for-lovely-subject-but-papercut-like-tears-around-vagina

I followed some advice in that thread and the tears I got cleared up for the most part. Now they seem to be back with a vengeance. I am not sure why, again I have been on antibiotics but I haven't had any thrush like symptoms. They're TINY honestly you can hardly see them. Little red marks around my opening, I think I have three at the moment but they're SO painful. I looked in a mirror underneath me half expecting to see I had developed some huge blisters, I cant beleive how much they hurt when I pee or they rub against something.

I have re-read my thread and one bit of advice I never followed was getting some steroid cream, so today I have got some. However the pharmacist told me never to use it 'down there' because it thins the skin. So now I'm too scared to try it!
I am so sick of this though. Something must work-and it seems quite a lot of people who responded to that original thread recommended it. ..Any voices of experience?

Sorry, OP - I've nothing constructive to offer but your title did make me wonder why this is the first I'm hearing about vaginas crying actual tears.

I'll get my coat...

Judydoes2 · 26/09/2018 19:16

I half expected that reply!! Grin

@longinesprime
That’s exactly how I read it! I’ve never given birth (I adopted) so I clicked wondering if it was some strange childbirth phenomenon I’d never heard of....
Sorry OP, I can’t help either. Can you get a referral to the hospital from your GP?

WeeCheekyBird · 26/09/2018 19:17

Hi op. Nothing to add but I actually have the same problem so will be following :)

Haworthia · 26/09/2018 19:19

It could be something like lichen sclerosus?

Judydoes2 · 26/09/2018 19:21

Thank you, that link is helpful, and does suggest steroid cream. Just after what the pharmacist said I am scared of making it worse!

You can use the steroid cream as long its on skin, not the mucus membranes of inner parts.
You'd have to be using it for a very long time for the skin to get thin.

Judydoes2 · 26/09/2018 19:28

Thank you seawead. I wonder what she meant? Maybe It's just what she's been told to say. It is right around the entrance though so I guess I'll just have to be very careful

Have you tried using sudocrem? Sounds like it could be down to dryness.

Judydoes2 · 26/09/2018 23:04

I haven't you know. When I went to the GP mid that previous thread they said it was caused by thrush and my being dry. I've been told Im too dry down there before, only it didn't make much sense because I feel (ugh sorry TMI) quite the opposite discharge wise, on the wetter side of normal but, they said its the outer areas and my skin that's dry.

I went back another time and the nurse bless her, such a good bedside manner. I am so sick of this now though. I dread going for a wee and wiping 'cause it hurts. I was heart warmed by that previous thread I did 'cause it seemed so many other women and girls suffered similar and they all advised one another from it.

Genital psoriasis?

I slap steroid cream on mine all the time

Judydoes2 · 26/09/2018 23:17

Has it thinned your skin ambostraw ? I have put a bit on one 'tear' tonight. I am so scared of making it worse but it seems to be a bit of a case of the pharmacist catastrophising. Is psoriasis ever hereditory? My Dad has it. quite severe.

OP posts:
ambostraw · 26/09/2018 23:58

Yes it can be. I would ask the doctor about it, it may not be anything like it, but that's how it presents as opposed to the flaky stuff you see on elbows and knees.

I haven't noticed a difference in my skin and have used steroid cream at least 4 times a month for a few years.

Judydoes2 · 27/09/2018 15:44

How does it work? What does it actually do? Does anyone know ?

BackToTheFuschia7 · 28/09/2018 15:09

I haven’t read your last thread but have you ever been referred for this OP?

Judydoes2 · 28/09/2018 16:28

I've been to the gyno with it countless times. Theyve never diagnosed it, just told me no tight clothes, no bubblebath, stop running, don't shave, no perfumed products etc etc. Confirmed It's not caused by an STI.

The steroid cream I used the day before yesterday as recommended by this thread and the previous one, has worked miracles! I never thougt I would feel so much joy at being able to have a wee without being in pain, but I just wanted to know how it has done it! I don't understand. And the pharmacist told me not to because it can thin the skin, but everyone on here has told me it only does that with prolonged use.

Rebecca36 · 28/09/2018 16:39

I also thought this was something about a vagina weeping :-).

Personally I wouldn't like to put steroid cream on it but you have and if it works for you I suppose it's OK short term.

When it is all healed up try some lubricant.

BackToTheFuschia7 · 28/09/2018 17:12

Oh that’s frustrating Judy and surprising that gynae haven’t made a diagnosis.

Fwiw I have the same problem and am awaiting an appt with dermatology. Another dr I saw said it would be ok to use hydrocortisone for max. a couple of weeks. I do have eczema elsewhere and one GP I saw said my skin is dry, so I wonder if it’s a type of vulval eczema (aren’t we the lucky ones!).

Judydoes2 · 30/09/2018 20:36

I didn't want to really either rebecca but, it seems to have cured it overnight. It's so much nicer not being in pain all the time. I just wonder how it works.
I know, Its awful isn't it fuschia I know it's by far the worst thing but its so awful and it just feels like something should fix it. Good luck, I hope you get some progress!
