DULOXETINE?

Bluebell66 · 26/09/2018 15:13

I have been suffering with chronic pain and Generalised Anxiety Disorder for the last five years following the death of my husband. I am currently taking Amitriptyline which is no longer having any effect. Over the last three months my symptoms have got much worse. Does anyone have any experience of DULOXETINE as this looks like my next option.

Many thanks in advance.

Dear OP, why are you writing DULOXETINE in capitals? Does it feel like some terrible ogre coming to get you? It may help you if you give it a chance - try to cut it down to size a bit in your mind. I speak from experience of another drug.

Thank you @lyrebird1 that's very helpful, especially about the metallic taste. I knew it was a side effect but didn't realise it was a warning sign in advance of other unpleasantness.

Good luck OP I hope the duloxetine works for you and you don't have bad side effects.

LYRE - is that 20mg x day of DULOXETINE?

I take 20mg in the morning and 20mg at night of duloxetine yes. I am sure 30mg will be fine though, but it is good to know that you can take it a bit slower if you need to

The first time I was on 60mg with few side effects, the second time on 30mg and I felt dreadful, so you never can tell. I think 30mg is the normal starting dose. I was supposed to increase after 4 weeks but I didn't because I was feeling so bad.

Hi @Twotabbycats I have the lidocaine every 8 weeks and have 250ml (about 4ml/kg) over 90 mins. Side effects wise - fatigue and irritability for a couple of days, also stinging where the nerve damage is. Pain gets worse before it gets kicks in but definitely worth it for me.

I wouldn't worry too much about the scary stuff. My consultant was showing off to a medical student for my first one and detailed every way you could possibly die! However, the conclusion was, the warning sign for anything dangerous was a metallic taste so you could just turn off the pump.

@lyrebird1 hey! If you see this please could you let me know where you get the infusions?
