Medical advice needed on Solaraze Gel in pregnancy please!?

Not sure if anybody will be able to help me but I'm 25+2 weeks pg and have been suffering from extreme hip pain that has got much worse in the last week or so. I think it may have got worse because my bump has had a growth spurt.

Anyway, I thought it was SPD to start with and it's very similar but its all in my hips and lower back. I'm hardly sleeping and I'm getting myself in a right state as I'm struggling to get around now.

My GP said they don't really offer physio for pg people but my consultant said that if it gets 'unbearable' to see somebody about it. I went to my GP this morning but it was an emergency appointment so it wasn't a lady I have met before. She said that I should go for short walks (like I've got the energy to do that!) even though it hurts to walk. She also suggested swimming which makes sense and I'm willing to try.

Anyway (sorry to go around the houses here!), she prescribed me with Solaraze gel. She looked it up in a book and said that pg people can't take the tablets but that "the gel should be OK". This rang alarm bells in my head so I immediately googled it when I got home. As far as I have read, it shouldn't be used in the third trimester which isn't for a few weeks for me.

My confusion is that everywhere (including the leaflet in the box) says that it's for a skin condition called 'actinic or solar keratosis'. Why would she prescribe me something like this and should I use it?

Thank you in advance for any replies

I am not a doctor but having googled it myself it doesn't sound good & I wouldn't take it netdoc
Using the gel will just mean you absorb less of the diclofenac than if you took tablets

They do offer physio for preg people - I would go back to the GP and ask for an urgent referral

Thank you so much for your reply - I completely agree! I'm going to get an appointment for later this week and I will make sure I get some physio. Surely they have special ante-natal physio or something!?

Thanks again ;o)
