Similar posting to sb34, well, about spots anyway...My dd has spots all over her, they arrived on friday along with a temperature, but no cough. She is feeding fine, and her temperature has dropped but spots are getting worse not better. Our GP was excellant and rushed us to hospital (just in case). But the paediatrician said it was a virus (unknown). Same as yours sb34 he said no outbreaks of measles in the area, but the GP siad he's seen quite a few spotty babies recently. We're in Surrey too. Wonder what is going round?

Sb34 - even though your child went into hospital, are the doctors still not sure what the problem is? Poor you. Where are you in Surrey???

Hi sb34, we're in Epsom. dd is still spotty and there is no doubt the spots have grown and are merging to form blotches. She still hasn't got a temperature, but sleeps a lot and the spots seem to grow as I look at them!! doc wants to see me today will let you know what he says. I can't see it being an allergy, as she hasn't been exposed to anything yet. Is your baby clear of spots now? Its crazy that you have to wait so long to find out if its measles. But on the other hand could they have treated your dd with anything anyway?

My ds had measles at 10 months this was 4 years ago. He woke up with a rash behinds his ears and spreading downwards. I looked in his throat and saw white spots at the back of his throat as I was reading up on what it could be and discovered these white spots Koplik spots I think they are referred to is often the most obvious sign that the rash indicates measles. My GP did just as soon as he saw him checked straight away for Koplik spots and diagnosed measles. DS continued to develop rash for another 2 -3 days and within a week he was back to himself. I had never read anything about the dangers of measles thankfully. I hope all is well soon.

sb34, have found out it was Rubella, which is even milder than measles as spots have now gone after exactly textbook 5 days! I think chickenpox was worse than this. If it wasn't for the MMR making you think rubella must be serious, I'm sure I wouldn't worry so much. Seems the MMR for rubella really is only given for pregnant mums.
