Is it my imagination, or are some types of disposable nappy causing dd3's horrific nappy rash?

Because Pampers seemed to set it off

Tescos own always calmed it down.. But now Tescos have changed their nappies and sure enough, after three days of use, her bottom is red raw, skin peeling off . She doesnt appear to be teething and hasn't eaten anything particuarly strange.

for dd3 enid. We used boots nappies for ds1, and loved them, especially because they fitted better round the waist, as he was a skinny beanpole.

BUT using cloth for ds2, and I love them. I really do love them, I sometimes just look at them stacked up in the bathroom! No problems at all with nappy rash AND they leak less than disposables! Bargain!

berolina · 10/06/2007 21:57

You could try Moltex eco-disposables? We swear by them.

Enid · 10/06/2007 21:57

oh bollocks

can feel cloth looming

her bottom looks liek it has been rubbed with sandpaper - red raw, bleeding in places, skin all tattered

Enid, have you tried Huggies? Just a thought. Had to scrounge one off a friend who uses Huggies the other day, and they are thicker than Pampers. And Nature ones really do feel different to Pampers/Boots so if you can get hold of them they could be worth a try. I can only get them in Waitrose or with Ocado delivery though.

Enid · 10/06/2007 22:02

hmm I think boots may do thos nature ones

I guess they'd be the ones to try first

Boots may sell some cloth, and Waitrose do as well. Otherwise this lady is lovely and is an online place to get some.

I really wouldn't have believed how lovely the nappies are, and it really isn't any hassle at all - we have a laundry bag, which we put teatree oil in, the whole lot goes in the machine, so there's no horrid bucket. It's really easy, honest

Enid · 10/06/2007 22:05

no no am not reluctant - I used them for dd2! but I flogged them all and cant bear to splash out on them

OP posts:
tortoiseSHELL · 10/06/2007 22:06

oh I see! missed that bit!

Enid · 10/06/2007 22:06

explain about the no bucket

As a newborn my DD suffered very badly with nappy rash when we used Pampers, once we swapped to using a potty and cloth nappies..it cleared up never to return.

sorry, just came back.

Basically I have this laundry bag (second down) - it hangs on the bathroom door. It has a little material piece on the seam that you put teatree oil on. All nappies/wraps go in there. When it is full I put the whole lot in the washing machine. So the bag gets laundered as well as the nappies. Seems to work and isn't hideously stinky. I really didn't like the idea of the bucket!

Enid · 11/06/2007 15:58
