High temp in a 33 month old for 3 days now - any ideas?

Hi All

My DD has had a high temp (fluctuating between 37.8 and 39.8) for three full days now. No other obvious problems apart from a grotty green discharge from her nose and an isolated bout of vomiting in the early hours this morning, (which I thought might have been related to all the gunk produced in her upper respiratory tract). She's not complaining of pain anywhere.

I'm wondering if this could be Roseola? No rash yet, but apparently that comes when the fever breaks? She's had chicken pox and has had her MMR when she was younger.

Also, I'm a bit uncomfortable with the fact that I've been using the Calpol and Nurofen mix for this period of time. Obviously it's been necessary to manage her fever but wondered if anyone else has used this mix for 3 days or more and wonder if I should stick to one or the other until I can take her to doc tomorrow. She's absolutely fine in herself when the meds kick in and is only a bit "hang dog" when her temp spikes.

what is Roseola?

It's a viral thing spread through the air that starts as a mild upper respiratory thing with high temp for about three to four days then a rash appears when the fever subsides, (that looks like a Rose, apparently)

not usre about the roselea thing myself, but wouldn't personally worry about giving the para/ibu for more than three days, if she needs it, she needs it IMO.
My DC has had a few nasty infections (inc pneumonia), and was on para/ibu mix for a lot longer, in hospital aswell, so it can't be dangerous or else they wouldn't do it.

mm, get her checked for chest and ear infectiosn tomorrow. Both a colleague and I have had silent ones in our children this year, and felt awful when the doctor said "this is really quite a nasty chest/ear infection". Seriously, no signs other than the fever.
DS had nurofen/para. mix for I think it was 6 days at doctor's recommendation. Hated doing it, but he doesn't seem to have had any long term effects from it.

wouldn't worry about carrying on with the meds you're giving her

I'm still trying to figure out how old 33months is

Cheers to everyone for your responses. I will definitely get her checked out tomorrow. My husband's auntie died from something called silent pneumonia and until then I wasn't aware such things existed! I've been continuing with the para/nurofen mixture.

Many thanks again.
