i dunno if i need to be worried about this or not, he ain't keen on hospitals and has been in and out a few times recently.
should i try and get hold of his specialist tomorrow or try to convince DH to go to hospital today. see profile for more info on DHs conditions

Yes he should go - if only for you, to put your mind at rest.

Shove him out the door, pronto.

Mrscarrot · 10/06/2007 12:32

if you can't see an obvious scab then without a shadow, get it checked out

onlyjoking9329 · 10/06/2007 12:33

if only it were that easy Cod. He says he isn't goning to hospital, he is worried they will keep him in.
then there is the small issue of childcare, aaarrrgghhh

you're not joking right? someone with such a serious medical condition should be pushed to have it checked out, he might be despondent, but you should take control of the situation, even if you just phone his doctor to ask.

misdee · 10/06/2007 12:35

OJ have you got extra help in place yet?

he does need to go in.

can you speak toyour cimmunity nurse and ask about hospices, they arent just for end of life care, we have a meeting with one next week to see if they can help with childcare etc (i understand your situation is different as your 3 have SN) but could be worth a try?

onlyjoking9329 · 10/06/2007 12:39

problem is thou, steve has severe memory loss and lots of denial, he often tells me that the doctors have got it wrong, if i tell him its serious and he needs to go to hospital, he will deny everything, he got himself sent home from hospital twice cos he told them there was nothing wrong with him

Misdee, we have a couple of respite families lined up, but still doing the intros with the kids.
direct payments have at last gone up from 8 hours a month to 28 hours per month per child.

my plan is to all go over to MIL see if she will help talk him into it, then she can hopefully look after thhe kids whilst i take Steve to hospital.

OP posts:
misdee · 10/06/2007 12:43

why are the hospital letting him go if he has memory loss?

arrrgh.

when is the next scan.

onlyjoking9329 · 10/06/2007 12:48

because he sounds so convincing when he says i am fine, scan should have been april, but we didn't hear from them, i phoned up to be told scans are booked up until July i have been trying to get hold of consultant, he rang back the other day whilst i was doing school run, steve told him he was fine

onlyjoking, after reading your profile, you have a lot on your plate. I agree your DH should have himself checked out. Hope your MIL can persuade him.

onlyjoking9329 · 10/06/2007 12:52

No he doesn't use cotton buds or anything in his ears but he could feel something coming from his ear, so he wiped it with a tissue.

I agree with KM, I would call an ambulance if necessary. You just have to find a way to override his feelings on this I'm afraid. I'm really sorry.

robinpud · 10/06/2007 13:03

Get him to hospital asap and get an expert's advice. Is it queens or city you are near?

Tiggiwinkle · 10/06/2007 13:07

Can you speak to someone on the ward he usually stays on? Or ring and ask for a member of his consultants team-somone will be around on the wards, even on a Sunday.

mummyto6 · 10/06/2007 14:18
