my son got chicken pox yesterday (Friday) and we're going on holiday next Saturday. Do you think the airline will let us fly?

They only allow them on when all the blisters are gone. They are very strict about this, and I would phone them to make sure, maybe you can change your tickets. They will not allow him to board if he has visible signs.

we flew the following day after ds spots appeared, We were on holiday already and he came out in spots the day before we flew home. he was only 9.5 months old, not sure if that makes a difference.

Most airlines won't let you fly if they still have spots that haven't scabbed over - with both mine this took over a week, as new spots were still appearing over several days.
You might be lucky - some children do seem to scab over much more quickly than this - but I wouldn't count on it

DD1 got chicken pox last friday, today she is totally scabbed and most of them have disappeared. She did only have it mildly though.

WE were told by the nursery that they would take her 6 days after first spots appeared.

It's a bit tricky - I'm going for work and my husband's coming with the children. I can't cancel my flight - the only option is leaving the whole family at home with poor husband! eek - what a decision

as long as the spots have scabbed over he should be ok - normally 5-7 days after the spots first appear. My dd started getting them on Easter Sunday and went back to nursery the following Tuesday (would have been ok to go back on the Monday but wanted to check the nursery policy first)

Timing could be tight but still possible, it rather dpends on the airline's policy. He should n't be contagious assuming all have scabbed over and at least 5 days have passed since the first one. However they may insist on the airport dr agreeing or a medical certificate if spots are still evident or if it is, say, a US airline they may exclude on basis of US health advice(which is stricter iirc) not UK. Worth checking with them for their actual policy just in case.
