my daughter coughed at nightm, and on waking. every night about 11pm.we thought we were distrurnbig her when we went to bed.. we didnt think it was anything cos she never wheezed, no mucus, nothing. then at age 4, she was admitteled to hospital, after a flu bug grey and sleepy. she was given a diagnosis of status asthamticus, and nearly died. she never had a single wheeze. we had no knowledge or familyhistory of asthma. Please get it checked out... dont, as we did, think a nighttime cough is " just the way they are!... get it checked out!ps... daughter is now 13, and hads not used her inhaler since she was 10... wish we had known before... it was so easy to get an inhaler for her

i have two other asthmatics who dont generally wheeze untill in full blown attack mode.

so thats why i am asking.

dd2 i didnt relaise, felt awful about it.

its a sudden onset with dd3, she is 2years old, wasnt a night cougher before.

will get her seen by GP.

I had this problem and took her to the gp who listened to her chest as I was concerned she had an infection
was pronounced clear, took her back 2 weeks later as was still coughing and chest was pronounced still clear but the doc said, there can be an infection without being able to hear it in their chest
so she was given antibiotics and it seems to be clearing now
definitely get her to the gps but dont worry, it may not be asthma

Has she had a cold recently? Could be post-viral respiratory hypersensitivity?
