Hair lose - patches all over head

My partner has suddenly started losing patches of his hair quite suddenly, about the size of a 2p.

It started in his beard a few weeks ago and he went to the doctors and was just told to keep an eye on it. But now it’s happening to his head hair and it’s seems to be very fast loss now.

He has always suffered with eczema, psoriasis and asthma, and acne and I feel like the doctors don’t ever really help him! He’s been on antibiotics, topical creams and nothing has really worked? I feel like these things could all be related?

For Father’s Day this year I got him a kenolog injection as I heard good things. It totally cleared up the eczema and psoriasis and his hay fever! But now I’m wondering if it has made him worse in the long run and caused this alopecia?

He his calling the doctors today, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience of this and could offer any advice? He never moans, but losing his hair is very distressing.

Are they completely smooth ?
That is how my d's alopecia started. Became total. Dermatologist can suggest strong creams but they won't work.for.everyone

Thanks for the reply and the link @cestlavielife , will check that out.

Yes, the patches are completely smooth. We noticed the first patch on Monday and now there are 4 or 5. It seems to be happening so fast!

I’ve told him it’s ok, but not sure what the best way is to support him - I’ve said it doesn’t matter to me, but I think he’s finding any sympathy from me really annoying :(

From smooth patches it was just a few months.... Tell him to get a close shave buzz cut all over and deal with the comments now and come up with a narrative to trot out "yeh I wanted a change" "I am thinking of joining the marines mate" etc. Start a trend in wearing baseball caps...
"It s ok it s not cancer but thanks for donating to charity "

Thanks for the info @cestlavielife, I really appreciate you taking the time.

He’s just set off for his doctors appointment, will see what they saw. I agree that a buzz cut may be the answer for now. Did your DS lose his hair anywhere else? Hope that’s ok to ask.
