alliebongo-my ds has excema/asthma and allergies. He had cp quite severely like your dd.I was quite ignorant about any difficulties due to being him being an atopic child. He was fine despite the horrendous amount of spots. He also had ahd prednisilone a week before getting cp.
Hope your dd is feeling better soon.

Keep a close eye on her. A friends DS had it recently (and has eczema) and the rash became infected. He had to be admitted to hospital and put on IV intibiotics. He was very poorly for a few days.

Tiggiwinkle · 08/06/2007 21:42

antibiotics is what I meant of course!

inamuckingfuddle · 08/06/2007 21:43

DT2 was on the antibiotics cos of infected spots, they became really red and raw around the original spots so that is something to look out for, she also had fairly persistant high temp and drowsiness

allieBongo · 09/06/2007 20:02

this is how dd is. just like a huge hot red mess, high temp and squealing in pain. i have called the emergency dr

Tiggiwinkle · 09/06/2007 20:20

Oh dear-sorry to hear she is so poorly. Good luck with the doctor-let us know how you get on.

allieBongo · 09/06/2007 21:00

thank u. still waiting for them to call me back

Tiggiwinkle · 09/06/2007 21:02

How is she? If she is really poorly and you have to wait too long for the doctor, I would take her to a and e. Is her temp very high?

allieBongo · 09/06/2007 21:03

temp was 37.9, she is rubbing herself against everything lik an itching dog. she just can't settle ans she is exhausted. i have phoned twice and was told that they are busy. wankers

OP posts:
allieBongo · 09/06/2007 21:04

temp was after nurofen btw., her spots are burning hot

Have you tried nhs direct? They can either contact your out of hours GP for you-it seems to speed things up-or send you to hospital if they think it necessary. My friends did not have to wait when they took their DS to a and e-they were whisked in straight away as the rash looked so awful.

Tiggiwinkle · 09/06/2007 21:09

They really did take it very seriously at the hospital by the way-if the rash is infected it needs urgent treatment.

alibobins · 09/06/2007 21:12

So sorry to hear she is so poorly

Malaleche · 09/06/2007 21:14

havent read whole thread but have a friend who's DS had eczema and after he had chicken pox it went away....

allieBongo · 09/06/2007 21:16

thanks guys. i just spoke to some jobs worth who told me that a dr will not come out to her, and that she doesn;t know if there is a gp at our local base. someone will call back with an appointment. she has fallen asleep now, they are likely to send us to bury st edmunds which is 18 miles away. what a joke

Tiggiwinkle · 09/06/2007 21:51

Have they got back to you yet, AB?

BCLass · 09/06/2007 22:05

I had chicken pox on top of eczema when I was little and had it really bad, spots all over including in my eyes (the bottom fleshy bits) and my bum crack (sorry!) as my Mum (still) likes to tell people.

I scratched till I bled because the itchiness was so bad, but only have one scar. I can completely sympathise.

Hope she gets well soon.

sandyballs · 09/06/2007 22:15

This is interesting. I do think chidren with eczema suffer worse with cp than other children. My twin girls had cp when they were two and the one with the eczema was completely covered from head to toe, it seemed as though no area had escaped a spot! Also up her bottom and in her mouth/ears/eyes. I didn't realise until then how awful cp could be, she was very poorly. Her sister, who doesn't have eczema, had about 6 spots.

I hope your dd is a bit better this evening.
