Hi,
I wondered if anyone has any experience of vaginal cysts specifically on the wall of the vagina?
I have to go and have one removed on Thursday and it's all rather confusing. I was told for years the 'bulge' I have at the entrance to my vagina was a pelvic prolapse and I went through the NHS physio team for ages and had a ring pessary fitted. Nothing seemed to particularly help it so the nurse led physio team wanted to refer me to a gyne consultant with a view to a prolapse repair op. I shyed away from this for a long time as I didn't want the repair op, had got used to it really and I didn't want my exercise levels restricted (runner, a lot of gym work etc)
Fast forward to this year and I had a long lay off from my beloved running anyway due to injury and decided to use my private health insurance and see a gyne consultant who specialises in prolapses. He examined me, removed the rig pessary, said I didn't need it and he didn't think I had a prolapse and it was a large cyst attached to the wall.
He sent me for a pelvic MRI who confirmed his diagnosis that it wasn't a prolapse but a large (think satsuma sized) cyst attached to my anterior vaginal wall and I need an op to remove it.
I am due to have this op on Thursday and he mentioned 6 weeks recovery but I was led to believe it was a lesser op than a prolapse repair. However, my private healthcare provider and at the pre-op all keep referring to it as a prolapse repair I am having. The op is described as Anterior Repair, Excision of Vaginal Cyst and Cystoscopy. Anterior repair IS the same as a prolapse repair isn't it?
I haven't even got my husband home for more than a couple of days and wondering how I will cope, the recovery sounds like more than I bargained for. I'm sure it's all sortable, my kids will have to start picking their mess up and my Mum and Dad are local.
Anyway, it's my long winded way of asking if anyone had any experience of this or any knowledge?
Many thanks
