Inspired by a few recent threads, including colleagues eating smelly food in an open office. Sorry to anyone hoping for fellatio advice, although I suppose it’s relevent!
Turns out I have a ‘good’ gag reflex, as does my DD. Doctor swabbing our throats recently was surprised how little it bothered us. She said most people find it very uncomfortable, and it often gets a bit messy!
Thought I’d research it a bit, hoping to turn my natural talent into a superpower (but not a profession). I’m a researcher, can’t help myself.
So if you’re interested, three tips for those wanting to improve their gag reflex (gag less):
-
make a fist with your left hand, but tuck your left thumb inside the fist. Squeeze.
-
find the Hegu acupressure point on either of your hands, and pinch/press down on it with your other hand. It’s located on the back of your hand, between the webbing that links your thumb and first (index) finger. Look to the fleshy area above the webbed junction. Press there.
-
some evidence for another pressure point- press on the little line between your lower lip and your chin.
Keep pressing until the urge to gag passes.
Can anyone add to this list? Best not to google it outright, unless you want very specific advice from the sexual angle only. With pics.
I’m talking mainly about helping people who have to survive gag-worthy environments, smells or medical/dental procedures. Or pregnancy-related nausea.
For me, the fist trick works best. What works for you, other than racing outside for great gulps of fresh air?
