Would you say this is a beginning of a cavity?

I've booked a dentist appointment but I am so ashamed. I have been putting it off for ages because it costs so much money as I have to pay private because I am not entitled to get it on NHS. I've finally found a dentist that provides 0% finance so I can pay instalments if I can't afford it. I am so worried they're going to take my tooth out Sad I really hope not! Does the cavity look bad?

You don't need to be entitled to NHS dentistry as you still pay a contribution? I've always seen an NHS dentist. As a child I didn't pay but now i do but it's not that much.

You can register as an NHS patient if they have room, then you pay 1 of three amounts for treatments £21 / £59 / £256. It is a lot cheaper than private. To be honest those teeth don’t look like they haven’t seen a dentist for years! As I am not a dentist I don’t know if the cavity is bad though.

It looks like the start of decay, could be a lot worse. Go on to nhs choices website go to dentist section put in your postcode and it will bring up the dentists that are accepting nhs patients in your area. Everyone is entitled to nhs dental services if you are not on benefits you pay an nhs charge.

Ive had staining like that for years - about 15 - and I panicked in a similar way. Obviously only a dentist can tell. Still no fillings at over 40 :)

Looks like staining to me, given that it’s at the side too. I’m not a dentist though.

Looks fine to me. I have some of this (also panicked when I was younger) and no cavities at almost 40 too.
