Think I have some kind of RSI thing going on woth my wrist - what's the treatment?

I've always had very weedy wrists and have had episodes of pain in the past - it's always stopped after a day or two and was usually sport related.

For the last two weeks I have had a constant pain in my right wrist, made worse by lugging heavy tables at the w/end.

It's most painful when I pick up and carry DS4, a hefty, almost 2 year old who is not walking yet due to SN. I think that is what's causing the RSI.

Should I just strap it up with something like this and carry on or is there a specific treatment for this sort of thing?

Off to get DS3 so TIA to any replies, will check when I get back.

where is the pain

have you looked at dequervains

MegaLegs · 07/06/2007 12:28

Have just googled that fox but my pain is on the other side, on the outside of my wrist if I hold my palms face down.

There is an area just below the knobbly bit that sticks out on my wrist joint that is really sore and a little puffy.

Is it more painful if you use that hand to push yourself up from a sitiing position?

MegaLegs · 07/06/2007 12:35

Not to bad when I push, The most painful movement is any sort of twisting movement e.g peeling spuds and grating cheese as I discovered last night, also really painful if DS3 pulls on it. I mostly notice it as I lift DS4 with my hands under his armpits and then carry him. That's the side I carry him and curling my arm around him is painful.
