Bladder pain when not UTI

Any thoughts?

It's mainly in the morning when I have had a fair bit of water to drink it will pass. It never stings when I pee.
I'm up in the night to use the loo
I'm avoiding caffeine, tomatoes and fruit.

Drinking potassium citrate for breakfast right now.

Hopeful bump?

Have you had a uti previously? I had pain long after infection cleared as the bladder wall is damaged. Still get twinges now and again if I eat or drink certain things

Yes, loads of UTIs.

I think my bladder is angry!
Any idea of calming food and drink?

It might be just a matter of time for my bladder to repair itself.

Ouch!

Could you have interstitial cystitis?

WobblyLondoner · 02/09/2018 14:18

I've struggled with UTIs all my life, and over the last year frequently had what felt like infections but not bad ones - I'd just feel very uncomfortable in my bladder, especially if I wasn't drinking much water. I'd send off a specimen for analysis but it came back negative.

What has changed things massively for me is a product called d-mannose - it deals specifically with infections which are caused by E. coli (it prevents the bugs attaching themselves to the bladder wall). It's made a massive difference to me as, with one exception I've not had any pain or any infections since April, which is amazing. If you look at the sweet cure website there is more information about what it is and how it works.

I've also tried dietary changes but nothing made much difference (unless I had an infection in which case things like wine were a total no no).

Good luck.

I think it could be interstitial cystitis.
Doesn't look like there is a cure, only pain killers.

Will look into Dmannose too.

I need something alkaline, I think

interstitial cystitis I think. I suffer from that. There's no treatment, just painkillers and drinking water. Or it may be an overactive bladder (I also have that, and I take prescribed pills for it)

I've been taking d-mannose too for the last few months and (touch wood) had no UTIs since starting it, whereas before was one every month or two.

glacecat · 02/09/2018 17:08

@Lynne1Cat - which pain killers do you find most helpful please?

D mannose worked for me too. I also switched to decaf hot drinks and cut down on alcohol.

Barley water is food for flushing the bladder too
