Our g.p has sent DP to the skin specialist at the local hospital for an abnormal mole on his back i asked him to get it checked becuse although small it is dark in the middle and light on the outside and has a ragged shape and i know these are te ones that need checking.

Anyway he examined it under a big glass thingy that looked like a paperwieght and said he was refferng him to the specialist.

The specialist has already rung to make an appointment which is wierd as our local hospital usually takes weeks.

I haven't said anything to dp but i am freaking out that he could hav skin cancer!

Has anyone had any experiecne???

Yes, so don't panic.

My son suddenly developed a dark mole o top of his ear aged 7. We had a quick referral and he had surgery (under GA because of his age) to have it removed. They genuinely didn't know what it was until they took it off to analyse it and fortunately it was benign.

I think, depending on the hospital and are you live, they go for quick referral to cover themselves.

Try not to worry, i'm sure it's a precaution.

Yes ,You will find they never take long for things like that.
I had 2 removed years ago and was worried about the results until they came back .Everything was ok and I just make sure I am extra careful now ,so I don't have to worry again.
try to be positive as a large percentage turn out to be totallyharmless.

yes. i saw the GP on monday for a mole. am waiting for referral to come through. GP said it will be treated as urgent (pigment change, ragged round edges, change in shape, itching and bleeding) although the GP thinks its most likely to be beneign.
