Would hayfever symptoms be clearing up at this stage?

I used to suffer sinus problems for a long time but in recent years not so much. I learned that sinus problems for me came on with a cold. The first sign of a cold and I tried to stop things in its tracks with garlic, lemons, and vitamin c.

This summer I wasn't so lucky. Back in June sinus congestion came on me so quickly. I had sore, watery eyes too as if I was chopping onions. I had a feeling this was hayfever. The worst part was a bad cough. It got worse with exercise and at night time. I was coughing to the point of vomiting and losing bladder control.

I went to the doctor and my gut telling me hayfever was right. I was sent home with loads of medicine. I got some relief from the steroid tablets. My cough was calmed with them.

I had repeat prescriptions until September.

Repeat prescriptions are all gone now and Im no better now than when all this began back in June. The cough is a little calmer but that's it. Its still there causing trouble. I feel there is a lot of mucus too which I think is causing problems too with a possible post nasal drip.

I will be making a doctors appointment for later in the week. Surely all this hayfever symptoms should be clearing.

I have it on n off all year round!
Runny nose, cough, itchy body it drives me mad

You might have perennial rhinitis, I suffer all year round with the worst time being the autumn, I had allergy tests done through GP but not allergic to 6 most common allergens. Found spray worked better than tablets, also damp conditions make it worse.

For some people, yes. My DH and DS haven't had symptoms for a few weeks now.

Mine runs January - October. It all depends which pollens cause your allergy.

Thanks for the replies. I was feeling rubbish all summer long. I went back to the doctor because my cough was very bad and by far the worst. There's so much going on with me, it's unreal. Congestion, post nasal drip, the coughing, the phelgm and related to sinus and hayfever.

I came away with a big bag of medicines - steroid spray, more antihistamines, antibiotics, asthma inhalers, ear drops - so much. I got bloods taken. Blood pressure is up so I have to go back for that next week too. Hopefully all this will help. I started taking the antibiotic. I was walking to work at lunch time and I started a coughing fit and I used the asthma inhaler and honestly that helped. Usually I would stop, dead in my tracks and I'd be choking on my own cough. The inhaler stopped the fit.

I've noticed an improvement over the day with the cough. I was cought earlier in the day but it was a short fit.

I'm sitting this evening after work and I can take a deep breath in without choking on my breath with coughing. I'm delighted. Hopefully I will continue to get better.

My son's runs until October too, he's heavily relying on his inhaler this year, his doctor says lots of others are really struggling too

As soon as the pollen calms down, the mould spores strike and the dust wafts up once the heating goes on.
For the post nasal drip and mucus, have you tried cutting down dairy? I had shocking mucus until I swopped to soya milk.

Just an update here.

I was at the doctor a few weeks ago and came away with a lot of medicine including antibiotics and an inhaler. She asked me to call back in a months time so I will be making an appointment in a fortnight or there about.

All is going reasonably ok. Blood tests came back good and not showing anything.

The biggest issue for me was my cough. It started back in June. I suffered all summer with it.

There was a huge improvement in my cough. Every body in my day to day life remarked on the improvement. Not only that, sleeping a lot better at night and I'm not waking at night. I'm still sleeping somewhat propped up though because I'm afraid of going down flat for now.

I still hear wheezing from my chest at times.

Something happened last week. I was in work and attending to the washing machine. Somebody washed a blanket in the machine that probably shouldn't have been put in the machine. I was left to deal with that. When I took the blanket out, it fell to pieces into loads and loads of fluff. Instantly I starting coughing and it was a choking coughing fit with all the fluff. I was coughing for the remainder of the evening and I was up sick that night coughing. Thankfully I still have my inhaler and I used that. In the end I had to get up and stay up. It was the only relief I got.

Eventually I slept very late Friday night into the early hours of Saturday morning. The cough was ok during Saturday. It still lingered a bit but no big and heavy fits.

I'm coughing now over the course of today. I think maybe stress might be contributing to the cough as well. Would it be possible for stress to play havoc with a cough?

Naturally I will mention all this to the doctor when I go back in a few weeks.

Maybe someone here can throw some light upon it.

It's fungal spores time of year which can cause hayfever symptoms

BWrose · 18/09/2018 18:10

So my cough eased up last week after that but unfortunately I started to feel a cold come on. I suffered last night coughing and I felt it in my chest. I woke this morning with a sore a head, and a thirst that usually accompanies a cold with me.
