I posted a while back and gp said it was growing pains, but i'm worried it could be something worse sometimes he can't put any weight on his left leg for up to an hour after he's woken from a nap and he can be awake screaming for up to an hour a time during the night.

Its not just crying he's sometimes sick with the pain I just don't know what to do for him

He's 2.5

the calcium link might also fit with the steroids, altho I hesitate to diagnose things like that, being non doctor person! steroids affect calcium/bones and lots of people take supplements for that reason altho it's a bit of a contentious subject cos calcium is also hard to absorb thro pills. tums are good source of calcium
but don't take at same time as steroids cos can affect absorbtion

I may have posted on your orginal thread, my 4 yr old ds suffers regularly from growing pains and I remember having them myself. I was tall for my age and so is ds. Rubbing the leg really helps, it's partly the warmth from your hands and partly the movement added with a bit of distraction. When I was older I found a hot water bottle helped although I don't know about one for a small child.

My ds also often finds it hard to put weight on his leg when he wakes up, but it doesn't sound as bad as you are experiencing.

Do he kick his quilt off in his sleep? If i do this i get very bad cramp in my legs, which can cause pain when i wake.
I hope all is ok, hugs

alibobbins - my brother had this when he was little and they could find no cause and put it down to growing pains. He is now a healthy, very fit 22 year old. x
