Organic Suncream

Do any of you guys use organic suncream? I've seen a lot about it in the press recently and I have really sensitive skin and often come out in a rash with normal suncream so I'm wondering whether it is worth it. However, it is so expensive!

So I guess I'm asking - has anyone tried it? Is it worth it? And which one do you recommend?

Ta in advance!

I've just bought lavera sunscreen for my son and I. We tried it today for the first time. I have been quite impressed. Ds's excema didn't come up red when I put it on (it does with other sunscreens). It did sting a bit when I put it on me, but everything stings my skin even water. I didn't come up in a rash like I normally do though. I think they are worth a try, but they are expensive. I bought our bottle from the local health store and it was £10.99.

Thanks tutu100 - I may try this one as, although still exenpsive, it is much cheaper than the ones I tried to google which were £30 for 100ml!

Do you use the kids or adults? They are a very high factor aren't they (40)?

We use weleda, not too expensive. I think it's organic; it's certainly less 'chemically'

Yaoh is a vegan organic one or Soleo Organics (the best one for my daughters aloe vera allergy as it is really simple) Most of them are £9-£15 a bottle.

waitrose sell organic suncream

kids factor 30 for about £10 (or £11) ish!

tutu100 · 05/06/2007 22:10

I bought the sensitive kids one which is a factor 25. When I was doing my research into them on the internet the article I read said that you are more likely to react to the higher factor sunscreens than the lower factor ones. I normally use a 40 on ds so was a bit worried about only using a 25, but I just applied it more frequently.

Organic suncream

Whatever next.

Personally I just wear thin but covering linen clothes and a hat and stay out the sun. Mind you I've had skin cancer.

lailasmum · 06/06/2007 07:40

Suncream is full of chemicals hence why people want organic ones to minimize that rather than just slap anything on. All the boots range makes my skin erupt a huge rash.

lailasmum · 06/06/2007 07:40

The UV will go straight through your clothes as if they weren't there.

Gingermonkey · 06/06/2007 07:51

Green people have a really nice one (well, a whole selection) and (to whomovedmychocolate), it is certainly much kinder to my skin - which is allergic to all of the chemicals in suncream and I ususally spend the whole summer in agony after applying cream to my LOs (so there! )

Gingermonkey · 06/06/2007 07:53

here you go

toomuchtimeonline · 06/06/2007 10:10

Thanks very much guys!! I shall investigate and hopefully have a rash and sunburn free summer!

did snigger at the notion of organic suncream (like organic doorstops) but does it really mean you are less likely to rash?

Gingermonkey · 06/06/2007 10:12

Works for me (so far so good!). Smells nice too and doesn't have the blue glow of normal ones!
