Would you go to the docs about this?

Recently i went on a 2 week holiday to America where it was very hot. After the first few days i noticed a mark the size of my thumb nail on my back, as the time went on and the tanner i got, the mark became more red/pink. My friends have noticed it and are all concerned but i'm not that worried and think that i will just be wasting the docs time. Any ideas what it could be? Would you be worried?

You wouldn't be wasting the doctors time - go along and get it checked out

Please get it checked out. How much of your time is it really going to take up. If it is something bad, the earlier you get it treated the better.

As far wasting the doctor's time, it is their job, they get paid for it, it is what they LIVE FOR

It may just be bit that has less skin pigmentation than the rest of your body. Bit like the opposite to a freckle. It will tan/change colour differently. My mum has a couple of these and they are noticeably a different colour in the summer. Quite often they are old scars or injuries. Take it to the doctor though definately to set your mind at rest. I noticed my BCG injection from when I was a teenager is like this too (but raised).

Yes i will go and get it checked out as soon as i can. Thanks for your advice, i thought you might think i was over reacting!!

I went to a dermatologist last summer to have a mark on my face checked out. The guy was so nice, he checked all my freckles, moles etc and basically said to me to come back and see him if I was ever in the slightest bit concerned about a sun mark. In his words, catch it early and you're fine, catch it late, you die. Very harsh words I know but that's why they always urge you to have these things checked out. The peace of mind is great afterwards too!

best of luck.
