Sinus issues

Just got back from holiday where we were snorkelling and swimming in the sea most days. On the first day my sinuses were a little painful then on subsequent days felt clearer, my left ear then became very waxy (lovely!), my nose was dripping and I was sneezing a lot.
The flight back seems to have dried them out even more and I feel stuffy and sneezy. It also seems to have made my asthma worse. My pharmacist has given me Otrivine as a short term measure and I’m using Sterimar which also really helps me.
Any more tips?

Can you get a steroid nasal spray like fluticasone in the UK?

They will reduce inflammation and allow for better drainage. If you're still suffering I'd see your GP about a possible sinus infection.

I’ve got Avamys spray already- I think that’s a steroid spray?

I haven't used one myself but you can get a little irrigation thing that gives your sinuses a full wash - similar to Sterimar but a but more full-on.

I'd make a doctor's appointment and have your sinuses checked out, to be on the safe side. I've had a couple of sinus infections and they get really painful if unattended.

It is a corticosteroid, so you've already tried that. It's looking more like an infection.

The problem is that human sinuses are very poorly designed for drainage. You have bacterial in there all the time, but they normally drain down the throat to the stomach. Anything that inhibits the drainage, like inflammation, and the bacteria have nowhere to go and start multiplying.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks. I’ve ordered one of the sinus sprays so will give that a go. I’ve had infections before and isn’t painful just stuffy at the moment. Will see how it is after Bank holiday and using various sprays
