ahhh! my skin is awful... had dd2 8 months ago and it's breakout city!... i know it's hormones and readjusting to not being pregnant anymore etc... but how bad can it get... it's spotsville!!!!!

i never had flawless skin to begin with but it's just awful at the moment....spotty, greasy , red, blotchy....

apart from drinking tons of water... what else can i be doing....? any remedies?

Mine's rubbish at the moment too - I blame Oil of Olay - when it said I'd have younger looking skin I wasn't expecting it to be that of a pluke ridden 15 year old !!!

Could also be the weather, the first few times in the sun can cause skin irritations.

Right at this moment I'd give anything for the skin of a teenager - atm I have the skin of a 70 yr old and not a well-preserved one either! And I've got a few spots. I'm so fed up with it....

I don't want to tell you this but I had a similar problem after DS2 and he is almost 5 now and it has only just started to calm down (only one spot this month as opposed to a whole chin full). I have recently cut down on cows milk (which I have always had a bit of an intollerance to anyway but it didn't give me spots), I have replaced it with soya in cappuccinos etc and the change in my skin would seem to coincide with this.

MrsSpoon · 05/06/2007 09:31

Doh, he is 5 now.

I bought my teenage DS some clearasil lotion. Use it myself when I get a break out of spots and it really does help with my skin. Might be worth a try (and I use suodcrem on the spots too)

it's an absolute nightmare... is it just down to luck of your genes... how do people have lovely skin...???

my face is full of lumps and bumps... !!!! and lovely little (and big!) white heads...

milk?... i don't drink that much milk as it is??..

are lotions and potions like clearasil just made for teenage spotty skin? or is spotty skin all the same... being teenagery or dragged through a hedge backwards mother types???

I've always had awful skin. Strangely, I get fewer spots on my face these days, but more on my neck, where I never had them as a teenager. And now I have wrinkles too. Which is totally unfair - I've never had a day without either. I use Tea Tree oil on big zits (or toothpaste!). Don't know if it works but it makes me feel as though I'm doing something. I used Oxy 10 and various other chemicals as a teenager and I'm convinced it made my skin worse.

lilolilmanchester · 05/06/2007 10:33

Bea, I use my usual cleanser/toners as normal. I just use clearasil directly on & around the spotty areas.

bananabump · 05/06/2007 10:41

See your doctor? If it's acne they will be able to prescribe some tablets to control it.

MrsSpoon · 05/06/2007 13:34

bea, I've always had 'good' skin, didn't suffer from spots or acne as a child, skin was fine with DS1. When pg with DS2 I was very spotty, whenever I mentioned it to midwife/Dr they just said pregnancy acne. There does seem to be a hormonal connection with mine in that it flares up just before my period, however I am hoping it has now stopped, when it's the passing of time or stopping with the milk I don't really know. I now have scarring on my face from the spots.

Hope you get it sorted out.
