causes of dehydration in an adult?

because I haven't been feeling well my gp did some blood tests. I was told these were normal but when I managed to get the figures they show high albumin and HCT - signs of dehydration. Anyone know what might cause that - I drink quite a lot of herbal tea, it isn't lack of liquid.

alcohol, caffiene etc can have this effect, did you ask the doctor what he though was causing it?

If you feel thirsty you are already dehydrated. Also tea is a diuretic (makes you urinate more). Try to include plain water and fruit juices too. Can't think what else would make you dehydrated unless you are exercising and not topping up with water but it sounds like you are drinking well. Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Do you eat alot of salty foods?

Salt intake?

Try to drink more water rather than herbal teas.

the teas are caffeine free. I didn't think they were diuretic (I don't have dandelion or parsley) and I hate the taste of the water here. I do put too much salt on my food but if I don't I feel worse.

The gp didn't notice the test results - it was everything normal, go away.

Might switch the type of tea or try watered fruit juice.
