Going to the Drs in a few hours but just wondering if anyone has some advice. I'm off work to look after him and he's just so down right now.

Poor little thing.

All you can do is try and get his temp down as much as you can, but slowly. Has he had calpol or anything?

belgo · 04/06/2007 13:05

what mediaction have you given him? you can alternative calpol and children's ibruprofen.
also give him a luke warm bath.
Give him small sips of fluids regularly as he will be losing fluids from sweating.

Does he have any other symptoms?

belgo · 04/06/2007 13:17

nip - how is he?

If you're really concerned and can't get his temp down, then phone your doctor agian, or take him to a&e

he has some kids nurofen at 6am, thrn at lunch he had medised as its the only thing i have that contains paracetamol.

I second the bath, calpol, ibuprofen, liquids etc. Hope he gets well soon.

belgo · 04/06/2007 13:19

good sign that he's eating grapes, they have a lot of water in them.

Nip · 04/06/2007 13:21

thanks - he's drank loads of water today but his breath really smells so i am guessing perhaps a sore throat or teething too

Hmmm, don't want to be alarmist, but smelly breath and thirst can be 2 signs of diabetes (my brother was diagnosed at age 8 so I can't say for sure whether the symptoms would present the same in such a young baby). If there's any way that you can collect a urine sample before you go to the docs then it might be quite helpful.

You can give him more nurofen now too if his temp's still up.

belgo · 04/06/2007 13:29

thirst and smelly breath can be signs of diabetes, but thay are also signs of a sore throat and dehydration.

Nip · 04/06/2007 15:53

UPDATE: has a upper respiratory infection - eyes, ears and throat... inflammed inside of ear, bad throat poss tonsilitus, conjuncitivitus for good measure too! Got anti b's - fingers crossed this gets the poor lad better

Thanks for your advice.
