Is chickenpox innevitable?

Is it innevitable that siblings will spread chickenpox between themselves? My two are still at the "lick and dribble" stage and there is zero chance that the one with has not contaminated the one without. So - is there any chance at all that number two will not come down with it? Do children ever have natural immunity (not including that built-up from a previous CP infection). Can chickenpox ever be present without spots?

Would normally be philosophical about it - but the timing looks set to scupper our holiday plans.

I have a feeling I heard somewhere you can be naturally immune but it seems most children do get it. I don't know the possibility of not catching it from any given exposure though - my dd1 never seems to catch it no matter who she sees

I've never had it despite my siblings and my Dcs all having it, so there is natural immumity but it's very rare according to my GP.

Having said that, my Dcs only got it last year when they were 8, 6 and 2 despite having been exposed to it on numerous occasions before. However, once one of the caught it, the other two went down with it a couple of weeks later so I think the chances of one getting it and the other not is pretty slim.

Well, my eldest did not get it last year when rife at nursery, and then from november to last week was exposed at school almost every day to some of his closest friends having it...he only came down with it last thursday....maybe this strain is just different? waiting on my DD and youngest ds getting it to...think i saw somewhere (here?) that is has an 87% contagion level, so it really is infectious....

My brother and I had it as children, and didn't catch it off each other, had it separately. We're four years apart though, so I at least would not have been dribbling over him. My mum claims never to have had it, despite seeing both of us through it, and having had my DD for a day and a half when she was infectious with it. I must admit I'm not 100% convinced she's really never had it though - although DD was exposed to it a few times before she got it, so I do wonder if my mum is naturally immune, and the immunity is getting watered down over the generations.
