Panicking - DH just found lump on the testicle

Not sure what I’m expecting from posting this but it was a bit of a shock, so a bit of a handhold I guess.

DH just found a hard lump on his testicle when he was in the shower. It seems like it’s definitely attached to the testicle itself, but I’m wondering if It might be an epididymis cyst.

Has anyone had an experience with their OHs? He’s going to call doc tomorrow and make an appt to get it checked regardless but I’m worried, he’s got other health issues going on and this is the last thing he/we need!

Yes, my ex found one a couple of years ago. He was referred for an ultrasound scan but it turned out to be a cyst and nothing to worry about. Just like most breast lumps it's most likely not anything sinister but definitely needs to be checked out just in case. Good luck

Thanks @madame.

The thing that worries me most is that it’s directly attached to the ball, which from initial googling seems a bad thing!

I know, I know, step away from google...

Well I've got 2 stories

My brother found a lump about 10 years ago . He went directly to the GP who referred him to the hospital. That was the Monday. By the Wednesday he was having it removed in surgery. He had chemo and had a bit of a tough time for a few months, he lost his hair, etc. He made a full recovery and has yearly checks now which have always been clear.

DH found a lump a couple of years later. He went to the GP and she felt it, then told him it was a cyst or abscess. He had antibiotics for a fortnight and has never had any issues since.

So my family has experienced 2 different sorts of lump, 2 very different treatments. Both ended up with healthy men afterwards though. My brother hasn't had any long term effects, although obviously it was a tough time while he was having treatment.

I hope your DH finds that it's just a cyst, but even if it's more serious it's highly likely that he will make a full recovery. Flowers

It could be a hydrocele, basically a cyst containing fluid.
No-one here can answer your worries with a definitive diagnosis. I'm sorry as I know it doesn't stop you from worrying about it.
The only thing he can do is to see his GP and take it from there.
I hope all turns out well for him.

My nephew, early 30's, discovered a lump. Went to GP, scanned, sperm sample taken (in case of lost fertility), testicle removed and a cosmetic prosthesis implanted all within a fortnight. He was off work for a couple of months, will need follow-up checks, but is pretty much all clear.

Most testicular lumps are not cancer. Most testicular cancers have a very good prognosis, as per the examples above. It's good news that he has spotted it and so has a chance to get checked out properly.

Thanks all. Appreciate that it is more than likely nothing and even if it is, that it has a very high cure rate.

I’m just extra concerned as he is on the wait list for a very important operation and it would be awful if anything delayed it.

Thanks for everyone for responding
