Fobbed off and don’t know what I should push for

I had my son 7.5 weeks ago and since my c section I’ve had chest pain and tightness- it feels like bad asthma or a bad chest infection but it isn’t. My inhalers make no difference, my peak flow hasn’t changed and my chest X-ray is clear. My ESR and CRP blood tests are both raised but my D-Dimer was negative so not a blood clot. I’ve been given three sets of different antibiotics but my ESR and CRP have continued to climb and my chest gradually feels worse. My GP keeps shrugging and just running the blood tests over and over. They won’t do a CT as they don’t see the need. My lochia hasn’t stopped at nearly 8 weeks but it may now be my period returning as it’s bright red again (but, I’m exclusively breastfeeding on demand). I have night sweats and intermittent fevers and feel rotten. I’ve had an ECG and it was normal. Any ideas what I should be pushing for as I really want some answers and to be able to feel normal again? Just mentioning it as I know it may cross minds but I don’t feel any anxiety/depression (beyond wanting this to go away and to have answers). My ultimate concern is that they could be missing something like cancer but I know that is thankfully unlikely. I’ve wondered about an infection or retained placenta but the antibiotics haven’t changed anything and I don’t know if the bleeding is just my period. Sorry this is long and a bit specific. TIA

It sounds like an infection? I’d try antibiotics?

Redteapot67 · 07/08/2018 19:29

Also look up post partum myocarditis - it might be that only a heart ultra sound could show this rather than an ecg?

Redteapot67 · 07/08/2018 19:30

Oh sorry stupid I saw you’ve had antibiotics
Ask for a heart echo

Do you have a sharp pain on breathing in or coughing at all? Just that post op and pregnancy pulmonary embolism is a risk. Your symptoms are absolutely not classic for it- but It would cause breathlessness, pain and sometimes raised inflammatory markers.
You obviously know your breathing well. If you think there's something wrong you're probably right.

Please ignore me, I've reread your OP and am Blush

I would agree with echo, respiratory referral or infectious diseases referral if dept in your area

Costochondritis?

Thanks everyone, I now have a few ideas to go back with. To those suggesting things we’ve already explored there’s no need to apologise, my OP was ridiculously long! I’ve had an endoscopy tonight and they found a hiatus hernia but the doctor didn’t think it explains all of my symptoms.

Heart burn can cause awful chest pain so it’s possible

Slartybartfast · 08/08/2018 07:45

have blood tests ruled out anaemia op?

Slartybartfast · 08/08/2018 07:46

sounds like retained placenta or something doesnt it op, with the blood results.

Hoosey · 08/08/2018 09:41

Yes definitely not anaemic and apparently the hernia wouldn’t cause ESR and CRP to be raised. I’m back to the doctor tomorrow so I have a few ideas to share with them now which is great. I am wondering if it might be retained placenta as my ‘period’ is behaving very strangely.

Just remember the ecg being clear doesn’t rule out heart issues
It’s very possible you have more than one thing going on.
Keep pushing!

My diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis presented with, amongst other things, a lot of chest pain, night sweats and feverishness. Just another idea to throw into the mix! Hope you get sorted out soon.
