Cut is a bit yellow - normal?

Sorry for the gross topic, but I cut my knee on some gravel last weekend and it seems to be healing alright, although I've noticed the cut has got a bit of yellow pus on it. It's not really painful or particularly red so I don't know whether I should be worrying or not.

I've had an infected cut before and my glands and ankle swelled up so I'm not too worried, but wondered if anyone had advice: is a little bit of yellow pus normal?

Thanks.

Could you take a picture?

It could just be translation and slough. If you've had it covered up a wound can get a bit yellow looking. Bathe it in boiled water, poo some antiseptic on it and keep an eye on it.

Translation = granulation

Stupid auto correct

Don't poo antiseptic on it! ConfusedGrin

If it's infected it will show other signs such as being red, swollen, hot, weeping. If it's just yellow stuff sat on the wound it's slough (dead cells etc from wound). This should be removed. If the wound is dry use a hydrocolloid/hydrogel dressings are good at this if you can find any in your pharmacy, if you're worried about infection inadine silver or honey are good but doesn't sound like it's needed.

Oh excellent it sounds like that's what it is. I've got one of those special dressings on it now. I'm out and about so can't take a pic now but will do later when I take the dressing off if it's still like that.
