My DP had this appear on his back some time ago now. It started off small and has grown over time. It’s not painful and just feels like a hard lump.

Could it be a cyst?

Oddcat · 02/08/2018 22:31

I also reckon it's a cyst

Oddcat · 02/08/2018 22:31

Or a lipoma, which is a harmless fatty lump.

DerelictWreck · 02/08/2018 22:31

Probably a sebaceous cyst - I get them on the back of my neck just as you described. Try rubbing your finger over it/gently squeezing it - if your finger smells then that's pr baby what it is

GravyMilkshake · 02/08/2018 22:31

Sebaceous cyst? Give it a squeeze. Don’t forget to film it.

theborrowerssss · 02/08/2018 22:36

We have tried squeezing but nothing happens! Anything else we can try?

Get it checked out but it looks a bit like my dermatofibroma. GP said it was nothing to worry about.

Dumbledoresgirl · 02/08/2018 22:46

My dd also had a dermatofibroma. To be fair, the GP told me to keep an eye on it as, if it changed, it could be something to worry about. She had it years and I do think now it is less significant, smaller. If I were you, I would get it looked at by a GP. Not because it is a worry, but because you need to know what you are dealing with.

DerelictWreck · 02/08/2018 22:53

If it's a sebaceous cyst nothing will happen when you squeeze it, but your finger might smell

GravyMilkshake · 03/08/2018 09:03

I’ve got a sebaceous cyst and DH squeezes thick smelly cheesy stuff out from time to time. Sebum. Hence the name.
