Threadworms or not?! Help!

Sorry that my first thread (no pun intended) is about such a lovely topic Sad
Been driving myself nuts over the past week or so. I started itching in the bottom area and foolishly googled the causes and threadworms came up straight away.
I have a six year old son and have been checking both of our bottoms and toileting religiously. Have seen a few potential sightings, most notable today on the loo roll what looked like a small white thread but nothing has ever been moving or obvious as threadworms. Probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been crazily searching.
I have to add neither of us have experienced itching at night, disturbed sleep or visible threads around the bottom.
I got us some precautionary ovex and have done all the suggested cleaning. The sticking point is my oh who I haven't told because frankly I'm just mortified. He's not my sons bio dad and we've only been together a few months. Just don't know how to bring it up!
So first question is does this sound like threadworms or would the signs be more obvious?
Have I done all I can in terms of treating them on a precautionary basis?
Does my oh need the medication at this stage too or is it safe to wait to see if things clear up or become more obvious?
Pretty sure a lot of this is down to my own obsessiveness but what I saw this morning really freaked me out. Anyone had any experience with this?

It sounds like it! But you've done the right thing in getting treatment. Yes you need your partner to get treated, don't be embarrassed.

Just tell him there is a outbreak at school and everyone is getting treated as a precaution.

Just give him the tablet, say there is worms in the house and he needs a dose and again in a couple of weeks. Job done.

I've done it to the husband, it's just part and parcel of having kids.

Urgh ok thanks guys I guess I was just waiting on more definite evidence before having the awkward conversation!
To clarify we've had no real itching, discomfort or issues and we all wear pants in bed! Think I've convinced myself a lot due to dr google tbh! But I did see a few suspicious 'strands' too so who knows.
Seriously unpleasant, I feel awful.

Just an update, no more symptoms other than the same mild itching but this always during the day and never has woken me up or been noticeable at night. Ds hasn't complained of symptoms at all and I've never seen anything on his bum or in his poo.
Starting to think (hope) that it might have been a false alarm but am still trying to maintain strict hand washing, regularly hoovering and change of towels etc.
It's something that's baffled me really. I thought they symptoms would be really obvious and definite but that doesn't seem to be the case. I feel sure I saw one on the toilet paper but that's literally the only sighting and since I've had no other real symptoms I'm wondering if it could have just been something else. Has anyone who has had worms had little or no symptoms or do they usually make their presence known?
And if you do have them how on earth are you supposed to ever get rid since the eggs can float around in the air and attach to surfaces and stuff?! Now I've looked into it I feel I'm going to be constantly paranoid about eggs in my house!
