Getting nowhere with GP re thyroid & prediabetes

Hello I'm feeling at my wits end about this. I'm hoping for some words of wisdom or just support!

I've been experiencing some on going health problems and feel like I'm not getting anywhere with my GP(s)

I was told I was prediabetic after a glucose tolerance test in March. I had been feeling really hungry and shakey between meals. I was prescribed a low dose of metformin (500mg) and told to lose weight.

I've lost some weight but this is really difficult when I'm experiencing extreme hunger all of the time. I've got a at home blood glucose monitor and my results are in the normal range now I'm taking metformin but I'm still experiencing the constant hunger.

My regular GP is off on long term sick at the moment so I've been passed around several GPs. The most recent one told me to stop taking the metformin as he didn't think I was prediabetic! I just feel like I'm back to square 1!

I've also been referred to an endocrinologist who said he thinks it is the insulin resistance causing the hunger.

I requested a print out of all of my test results and I'm also concerned about my Thyroid. My TSH level was 4.33 in May but that had risen from 3.60 in March. From my print out the range is 0.30 to 4.50 so I think this is very close to the top end of normal. I know weight gain and hunger can be a symptom of an underactive thyroid. This feels like a significant rise in 2 months.

I now don't know what to do for the best, I'm not sure if I should change GP practice so I can at leat see the same GP?

I'm posting partly just to vent! But I'd love to hear anyone's experience of early thyroid issues and any advice on how to proceed when you feel like you're getting no where with your GP.
