Feels like gripey period pains, but, have had this for a week, and not due for another 3 or 4 days.

Its not bad pain, but its constant, and very gradually getting worse.

What could it be?

Kidney infection? Any widdle issues?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 31/05/2007 16:19

No, not at all, which is why I am confused.

Also, when i've had kidney infections etc in the past, the back pain is not really low down, its more central.

Could it be a pelvic infection?

NormaStanleyFletcher · 31/05/2007 22:53

Is your apendix still there? (when mine went the pain just got worse and worse and was stomach pain - low down - the only reason I knew it wasn't period pain is I feel period pain in the tops of my legs too. At the time I thought it was constipation or something and got all sorts of stomach meds until I eventually had to get the blue lights!)

twinsetandpearls · 31/05/2007 22:54

could it be IBS?

teafortwoandtwofortea · 31/05/2007 23:07

VVV, I ocaisonally get period pain before my period IYSWIM. But if it keeps gettig worse go and see your doctor to check you over. It's easy enough to check for a UTI and take a few basic bloods to make sure you're ok.

It could be musculoskeletal though - have you had any back problems in the past?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 31/05/2007 23:20

I still have my appendix, yes. I have suffered IBS in the past, although, bizarrely - going through two pgs seems to have made this markedly better (plus having a much improved diet).

It really does feel like gripey period pains, or even early labour pains (because the pain in my lower back).

Teafortwo - I do have lower back problems. I suffered SPD with both pgs, and leg and back pains since my early teens. After my first baby, it was finally discovered (although how it was missed for so many years before despite several x-rays being done), that I have a mal-formed sacro-iliac joint. It is split into 3 pieces, I have one more vertebrae fused than 'normal', and something else extra further up apparently.

It may be IBS when I was pregnant my IBS kept being mistaken for early pregenancy - I even had contractions!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 01/06/2007 13:01

I am wondering if this is endometriosis particularly if this is a long standing problem. It can be misdiagnosed as IBS.

Pregnancy can help endo in terms of lessening of pain and symptoms but it can recur.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 01/06/2007 21:13

I have to say, wrt endometriosis - i had loads of investigations in my late teens/early twenties due to bad period pain, heavy periods etc and had scans, laparoscopy etc and they didnt find anything.

Its still there. No worse, just constantly there, this dull ache back and front.

Im not constipated, or the opposite.
